Heartwarming story of the day

One-armed rugby player Shay Dunster, proving bullies wrong

Good vid in the link

Quote:
After being born with one arm, a nine-year-old boy was told he would not be able to play rugby.

But Shay Dunster of Trefil RFC, near Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, has proved the bullies and doubters wrong, scoring 11 tries and being named player of a recent tournament.

He has inspired the whole club, with his cousin Lois Morgan saying: "He's half my size and half my age, but I look up to him."

Even Welsh internationals Rhys Webb, Ken Owens and Bradley Davies have sent video messages of support.

Team I play for apparently played against a guy with one arm. Fullback. Apparently in a one on one, one of our guys stepped him, but daftly chose the side with the arm and got taken down. Apparently he was really good under the high ball too.

How did he ever make a mark? :?:

Latest Rugby World has a nice interview with Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler. I forgot he scored a try v New Zealand in the U20 world championship and Wales won that game. Looking forward to watching him play, if I can.

Also they think Wales will reach the World Cup final so I'm guessing they put the issue to be before the warm ups!

That was 2011. When they asked Gats about is this the best team he has had, he said yes its the best squad.

I reckon our best chance was when Sam Warburton was playing, sadly. But you never know!

400 here we come!

Who would win 2011 vs 2019?

15) Leigh Halfpenny vs Liam Williams - Halfpenny was good in 2011 - but doesn't have the attacking prowess of Williams
14) George North vs George North - North probably more of a handful in 2011
13) Jonathan Davies vs Jonathan Davies - JD2 is probably a more rounded player these days
12) Jamie Roberts vs Hadleigh Parkes - Roberts was a real weapon in 2011
11) Shane Williams vs Josh Adams
10) Rhys Priestland vs Dan Biggar - Priestland was on fire for the WC 2011 (and only the WC 2011)
9) Mike Phillips vs Gareth Davies

1) Gethin Jenkins vs Nicky Smith
2) Huw Bennett vs Ken Owens - Ken probably better around the park
3) Adam Jones vs Tomas Francis
4) Luke Charteris vs Jake Ball / Cory Hill
5) Alun Wyn Jones vs AWJ - He's probably better in 2019 I reckon,
6) Dan Lydiate vs Josh Navidi
7) Sam Warburton vs Justin Tipuric
8 - Toby Faletau vs Ross Moriarty

9-6 to the 2011 team - but like Gatland said - the squad is much better these days
2nd XV 2019 would smash the 2nd XV in 2011

Agree with you on all points. But for #10 you state RP on fire then bold Biggar. I would go with RP based on his RWC 2011 performance only.

I was thinking of doing one for all our 8 RWC sides and have an A and B team. Will post later this week all teams.

Experience counts for a hell of a lot in a big tournament. We've got a 3 x Lion as our captain, four 2 x tourists and a smattering from NZ.

I'd love 2011 Phillips behind our pack, mind. Him & Tomas Williams/Cawdor would be a hell of a starting/bench combo.

I thought we'd miss Mike Phillips more than we actually have done, we've never had a problem producing sharp 9s. Then a massive angry one turns up!

He still had a few moments, he genuine always knew when to swipe. Part of Gatland's period when he placed loyalty above all else.

His final pro match was back at the Scarlets in SA on emergency cover.
