Good work LN.

I am down to 13.2 now. Hopefully it will come down a little further once all my summer rounds are loaded.

16.3, but as I embark on a new career -- with all the opportunity to play and free kit -- I am hoping to get into single figures.

Good luck with that,
I just wanted to get below 11 so I had a better chance of making the Pennants team...going to have to work at it a bit

Likewise and we have had a ridiculously mild winter. My only excuse is that i have an unwritten rule with the missus that if i pretty much give it up for the winter and spend lots more time with her and the nippers i can then play a lot more in the summer.

I've just had a quick flick to see where my handicap finished the year at as well, 9.5 which is a pretty poor show as i had a decent year last year but the final 4 rounds or so were pretty pish which must be why i have crept up to 10 again :( and there was me hoping to get down to 6/7. Might have to dust off the sticks and hit the range in the next few weeks to get the swing back although it's my putting that needs the most surgery.

I am also starting to get to get the itch to be back playing again, always happens this time of year as the days are now visibly stretching.

Finished last year at 13.1 (started the year off 19), so aiming for single figures this year.
Had a lesson last autumn on chipping. At my next event I duffed every chip (except one) so obviously that's had an effect. Chipped much better at Hampton Court the other week (5 up and downs) so just needs practice. Just had a lesson on pitching, so got 2 months until the Society kicks off at the end of March...

Its a funny game
My chippings great at the moment, but I cant get a driver off the ground !

Also , on par 3s I seem to seize up and miss greens with boring regularity.

I can smash a 3 wood onto a distant green but cant hit it with an 8 iron :?

Cancelled my membership this year.
Left with a handicap of 5.6 but if I rejoin I'll have to get a fresh handicap.
Played Corballis Links last week if anyone knows it, I know it is short and a bit patchy to say the least but went around in level which was nice after a year away from the game.

Down to 10.6 after a good year when I played regularly rather than often. Haven't played in three months but made a serious statement of intent by investing in a set of Under Armour waterproofs at Christmas. they still have the tags on them but any Sunday now I'm going to get out to play in the weekly comp.

No, I work there as a greenkeeper from June til October.
I spend 7 hours a day 5/6 days a week up there working so I have little time for golf and when I do have time on the weekends I just want to get away from the place.
So no point paying the fees if I'm not playing.
I'll start playing again when I stop working there.

To mark my new career in the golf industry, I shot my worst round today in years. 98. Very unhappy. No real excuse apart from terrible weather and first game of the year.

I haven't hit a ball since the October medal. I am going out the weekend after next in one of the later rounds of the winter league. I am genuinely worried i will miss the ball on the first tee...its my longest time out of the game in 10 years :((

Played Miramar links this afternoon after an argument with the Mrs. I was in a foul mood and was either going to shoot the lights out or throw clubs all over the place.

Walked off with 82 (13.2)) without feeling I'd played all that well - so must have been doing something right.

Paul Lawrie wins Qatar International. One million euros in last 4 tournaments. Fourth in Ryder Cup list and up to 45th in WR with entry to all the WGC events. Looks like one of the true gents of the European Tour is on the way back.

That he is.

Does loads for the young lads coming through the ranks up here, one of their biggest sponsors etc.

Also politely applauded my tee shot on our 8th which i stuck to within about 6ft into a stiff breeze :smug: , he was there coaching the NE boys who were out just before our game.

Anyone watching the matchplay? 2 jocks going head to head today for a place in the quarters, Martin Laird against Paul Lawrie (gawn Paul spank the weegie bastard!!!)

Clearly they are worried at the Scottish dominance in the event so have had to pair them together to give the rest of the field a chance

Lawrie is playing great and I would fancy him for this tournament if it wasn't for the fact that the course is 7800 yards long!!!!

Went out for my first round of golf of the year last Friday. Stripped a beauty 300 yards down the middle and then promptly collapsed with a badly torn muscle in my lower back. Now taking more drugs than the average Pilton junkie and looking forward to a month off my work!! :((

I know i shouldnt but

I would have fancied my first outing this weekend but I decided to torture myself by going down to the rugby instead, I am not sure which is the more painful.

Lawrie has found some great form again, he is putting it down to practising more with his 2 teenage lads, well that was from the beeb blog anyway.

How many majors have Scotland won in the last 6 years? Ireland has 6.

Good luck, OS. I shall wait till the sun is on my back and the new battery for the trolley arrives and is charged.

Handicap went a bit South last year, after a promising start.

I'm off 16 now, which for my age appears to be pretty good! There's a chap in his 70s in the club playing off 8. Hits the ball clean as a whistle, straight down the middle. Putts like an angel.

I hate him!

I think you will find it is 3, the other 3 wins were NI....

Scotland has had 55 major winners whilst Ireland has only had 3 and all from the same player.

Form is temporary whilst class is permanent not that you know fudge all about class you wee trolling muppet.

Golf is an all-Ireland sport.

In the last decade :
England have won ZERO majors.

Scotland have won ZERO majors.

Wales have won ZERO majors.

Ireland have won SIX majors. One two three four five SIX.

How can you explain this? It comes down to genetic superiority.
