Ha Ha.

I suspect you'd be surprised. However, I suppose we'll never know. And it's a very small sample size, so the results are hardly conclusive.

Yup. About all you could conclude is that in every city there appear to be some honest and some dishonest people. So there's a surprise.

I had an attempted shakedown by the passport control officer, has my passport and then says I like your phone, you can say you lost it. Told him it was easier to get a new passport than a phone so no.

I read one historical perspective of the end of the war when the Soviets were rolling eastern Europe going toward Berlin, that all German speakers which were a natural minority in those areas for decades - they all moved out of there as fast as they could to go to Germany proper. So World War II removed that lingering existential question of what to do about them when setting up national states.

Not signatories:

Japan
India
Australia

all regional Chinese rivals to some extent

New Zealand has. South Korea has and North Korea has not, which the latter is quite odd unless China's Belt and Road Initiative includes a North Korean annexation some day in the future (probably the most likely outcome say 20 years down the road).

of Western and Central Europe it looks like Portugal, Italy, Austria, the Czechs, I think the dot is Luxembourg

For the Americas, I'm surprised Panama has signed and Nicaragua has not.

I was just about to post that there are many accounts from Wehrmacht soldiers after the war of coming across very isolated villages in Russia where the entire populations spoke something that pretty closely resembled German. Just these random villages dotted across the Russian interior.

Just seen that the above map is for 1910 vs 1945. There were still many German minorities in the East until 1945.

Hey mate, I haven't seen a current version despite my best efforts over a massive 5 minute period. If you come across a more recent map post it up.

Its a bit hard to directly compare, but this site has an interactive Maori land map: http://www.maorilandonline.govt.nz/gis/map/search.htm

However, it seems not to include the whole of Te Urewera NP, perhaps because there is some accountability to the Crown for custodianship of that land rather than it being owned. As such, it looks like Maori owned land has decreased since 1936, but it would be useful to see the custodianship land overlaid.

I found this 2 minute video clip.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rynnk2LBEY0

Bit late to this discussion, but interesting vid.

Gordon, you can find info on all land returned in treaty settlements (but I'm sure none of us can be bothered going through each settlement): https://www.govt.nz/organisations/te-ka ... ttlements/
Not much land has ever been returned so I doubt they would make much of a dent in it.

Tehui: When did OTS become part of Office for Maori Crown Relations (what a weird name). OTS website was much easier to use.

NZ has because many of our politicians are highly suspect. Always cracks me up when I see NZ ranked first in the corruption index. How bad must the rest of the world be.

Surprising for the UK (can only assume it was for a single month). Ford Fiesta is by miles the biggest selling passenger vehicle UK wide.

Atlantic City was the original site of the game.

Loads of other versions were developed over time - based on other cities etc. Over 1,100 variations apparently.
Brits mostly play the "London" version of the board.

That's one of the most misleading graphs Ive ever seen  How about showing us the FTSE, Euronext, Borsa Italiano, Frankfurt.. instead they've picked every tinpot bumfuck nowhere country with a piddly stock exchange and tried to say an American company is as bag as the stock exchange in those countries (notice stock exchange not GDP). Its like me starting a map with every US state and having a zero bubble for Iowa next to a bubble for Wimpy, a bubble for Washington next to a bubble for Landrover. And leaving out the stock exchanges of ooh.. say NY and Chicago. For fcuks sake what idiot ever used that shit

you can't convince me that:

(a) greenland, png, cuba and half of africa etc. don't have a first day of the week or the concept of a week
or (b) if not true it was too hard to get the data!
(c) what week are we talking? working or civil? because australia = monday? ah??

flags one is interesting though.

I don't doubt it's called the "weekend", even in Jesusland itself.

However. apparently the Unicode CLDR Project is (as near as dammit) the official resoourse on this stuff - see here!

It seems you lot are grouped with the Chinese, Brazillians and Yanks.
