Dublin were on top at that stage and it changed the momentum alright but thought they were two nearly equal teams. Kerry with a few crucial wides in the last quarter was the difference.

That takes the edge off a disappointing year. It was a close run thing in the end.

David Clifford will be an all-time great if he stops trying to mix it with lesser players. He shouldn't be picking up a yellow card against someone who's trying to foul him.

Lesser players? The dublin defender will find him in his pocket when he does the wash tomorrow FFS. 2 points from play? Flat track bully

Michael Fitzsimons had a great game but David Clifford is a far more talented footballer.
I don't see the same thing happening next year if they meet.

Dreadful dull sport. Eventually the penny will drop and they'll realise that the only way of making it in to something resembling a spectacle is to do what the Aussies did with it and turn it in to Aussie Rules. They can try a hundred more rule changes but as long as that ball stays round it'll remain a skill-less snoozefest.

To call Michael Fitzsimons a lesser player is a joke, he did a fabulous job marking Clifford. Was or will be MOTM and becomes one of 3 players in history to have won 9 all Irelands

People have got it the wrong way around. Gaelic football was influenced by Aussie (Victorian) rules not the other way around. It's a made up sport really with no long tradition.

People are weirdly overrating Fitzsimons performance. He had a decent game but Clifford still took him for two points, set up the goal and lost him completely on a number of occasions. Clifford’s poor shooting was more of a factor than who was marking him.

His poor shooting was down to the pressure that the player who was marking him put on him as much as himself.

I am biased though, he was the year behind me in school and was a really nice lad, delighted for him.

He wasn't at Ryan McMenamin levels of man marking but same result. ;)

Kind of had a last dance feeling about it.

How many will retire?

Cluxton
McCarthy
McCaffrey
Rock
Fitzsimons

Serious, serious players

McCaffrey is 29, if he retires it will be to concentrate on his career though so he may well do

Greats like Fenton, Kilkenny and Mannion all the wrong side of 30 now too , Cormac Costello 29 . Probably the last AI for all these players

Clare v Limerick in Ennis today.

1st round of Munster hurling round robin.

Clare very hard to beat in Ennis and league champions.

Limerick starting Kyle Hayes. Fancy Clare by a point or two due to home advantage

There are few places better than Ennis during a Munster championship game. Stadium is smack bang in the centre of the town and the atmosphere is electric. Heart says Limerick but feel Clare will have too much for us.

Have Limerick GAA no shame picking that thug

Anyone who's seen the damage he did to the lad he attacked just for talking to girls he knew, knows where he should rightfully be today.

i've lost track of the various new rules in GAA, colours of cards etc - i guess "square ball" is no longer a thing
