Here's a good one if it wasn't so funny it would make you cry how stupid these fuckers are

"Conman: "Hello Judge, would you like to buy a second hand bridge?"

Oh yes two please?"

Delighted

couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch

Quote:
SENIOR judges are among those who lost at least €250,000 each in a massive investment company collapse.

A prominent High Court judge and at least two of his colleagues on the bench are confirmed to have lost money in an investment company which -- unknown to them -- was being run like an elaborate pyramid or Ponzi scheme

The Irish Independent last night learned that judges, as well as partners in a host of leading Dublin law firms, were stung by the collapse.

These firms include blue chip names such as Arthur Cox and A&L Goodbody which were among a list of investors whose monies were managed by CHC.

It has now emerged that the Custom House collapse could be one of the biggest scandals involving ordinary investors since the onset of the financial crisis.

There was no minimum investment requirement for CHC clients, but they typically ranged from €250,000 to several million euro.

Excuse me while I break my shite laughing as these fools wallow in the consequences of their own stupidity and a broken legal system.

Treasury Holdings who helped bankrupt the country are taking the piss out of taxpayers because Judges are incompetent

Almost 3 years since Anglo went belly up and no court case yet. Bernie Madoff got 150 years in prison 6 months after his crimes came to light.

THere is apparently a dearth of trained forensic accountants in the Gardaí, who are meant to staff the DCE office, so that's slowing things down.

Give it time.

Think my old man lost a bit of cash in CHC as well, I'd be worried for some of our senior rugby types as well, wouldnt want anybody to have to do an Elsom.

There was agreat one the other day about the judge who branded all travellers workshy drunks who haqd form for assault.

on TalkBack last week.

must find it, it was treated with utter outrage, but it sounded like a commonly held view...

Quote:
THERE HAVE BEEN calls for a District Court judge to resign after he described Travellers as being “Neanderthal men… abiding by the laws of the jungle”.

Mr Justice Seamus Hughes, a former Fianna Fáil TD, is reported as criticising a defendant who appeared before Athlone District Court, saying:

"Nobody has indicated it to me, but I suspect he comes from a certain ethnic background that would give him even more form given the type of behaviour in which some of them engage… As I’ve described it before, they are like Neanderthal men living in the long grass, abiding by the laws of the jungle."
Pavee Point, an advocacy group for Travellers, said that it would be difficult for Travellers to believe that they could get a fair trial under Judge Hughes following the comments.

“Judge Hughes should resign with immediate effect as he is bringing the judicial system into disrepute,” Pavee Point said in a statement condemning the comments.

“[His comments] reflect a prehistoric mind-set that has no place in modern Irish society. Everyone is entitled to a fair trial irrespective of your ethnic origin or the charges you face”.

The group called on the legal profession and the government to speak out about the issue and to identify ways to ensure that it does not happen again.

Judge Seamus Hughes previously made the the news in July 2011 when he said that recipients of social welfare should be given food vouchers to stop them from spending money on drink and drugs.

The judge also previously sentenced a man to climb Croagh Patrick for verbally assaulting a garda.

Originally from Mayo, Seamus Hughes served as a Fianna Fáil TD from 1992 to 1997.

Madoff is still the only high profile conviction in the USA out of the whole global financial crash. The few Yanks that know about it are actually quite jealous that Sean Quinn is facing the courts.

Lawyers and Gardaí have a very bad attitude towards groups that appear in front of them disproportionately. It effects their general perceptions of them.

Travellers can be an unlucky victim of this. All too often they grow up in poverty, undereducated and often with alcohol abuse rife in their community. They're basically guaranteed to go to prison at least once in their lives.

You are being a bit of an ignorant plum, some people could have lost their life savings, hardly something to find funny. Only an immature prick would. It's bad form

Second of all, the judiciary have nothing to do with pressing charges, he was only questioned last July so the investigation could still be on going or perhaps the dpp are still reviewing the file. Or perhaps they simply can't obtain enough evidence to prove a criminal offence has been committed.

the us have vastly greater expertise to prosecute cases and their legislation dealing with corporate fraud is a lot more developed. Problem with the likes of Anglo is that if the dpp get in exprts from say the big four, chances are the big four in dublin have had significant dealings with them be it audit, tax advice, etc. This compromises any prosecution. In the us they don't have this problem due to their size

It's a self perpetuating circle. Travellers get in trouble with the law, Gardai arrest travellers who are constantly in trouble with the law, Gardai develop animosity towards travellers and spend more time policing them, travellers feel they are being harassed by police and react by breaking the law, Gardai arrest travellers, repeat ad infinitum.

Nope, there is a deep seated culture of violence and theft in traveller culture. Fact. A large proportion of the gangs that roam country wide carrying out burglaries are travellers. disputes are settled with fights from bare knuckled fights to medieval shit with all sorts of manufactured weapons. There is a distinct hierarchy in the community with loan sharking is rife that forces the lower caste families into doing more and more desperate acts. There is little or no belief in formal education. Let's not pretend otherwise so as to be politically correct. This is not an ethnic group that has fallen into poverty and a criminal culture has developed. A lot of travellers are very well off.

Was a civil case, libel or slander I guess, whichever one is spoken. The trial went into it's 6th f**king day before the defendant decided he was f**ked and settled. Was disgusted that having gotten that far we didn't get to give a verdict :x

I would dread to think what it cost him in the end, paid all the fees plus compensation.

As someone else pointed out, only Madoff was imprisoned. And he was involved in something very different than the Anglo boyos, which made a conviction very straightforward in his case. Apples and oranges.

Good to see Brefine upo before the courts

But here we have another example of the calibre of the judiciary

This judge doesn't seem to accept the bone fides of Social workers in placing children in care

Her decisions consistently obstruct or delay attempts to place children in care and is arguably individually most responsible for the need for a childrens referendum.

Sentencing is laughably lenient in a lot of cases alright. The more serious crimes where victims have been damaged need to have a lot harsher sentencing and minimum terms applied to them.

Irish justice is a laughable disgrace.

Sentencing is laughably lenient in a lot of cases alright. The more serious crimes where victims have been damaged need to have a lot harsher sentencing and minimum terms applied to them.

One must be careful.

I read a recent article, in the Telegraph I think, about the aging of British prisons. It would appear that many younger prisoners these days are acting as full time carers to what are basically a cohort of very sick old men.

I'm not sure that is a good thing.

Better they die in peace outside of the penal system.
