Wow! For the first time since the early 2000's it's actually been an exciting Arsenal off-season.

Pepe all but finalised at 72 million. Plus Ceballos loaned to us (with possibility of buying him?), exciting youngster Martinelli and Saliba (who we sent straight back ). Oh and Kieran Tierney seems certain. The new higher ups certainly are running the transfer business far better than we have had to put up with for years. Now if we could get a centerback or two we will be singing.

I actually didn't know, I saw it, thought it was beautiful and used it. A reverse google image search says Susan Dey a Tv actress in the 1970's.

Nice to see the England women will draw their biggest ever crowd in November already.

The biggest surprise about that was that his house was worth 4 million
I’d say he would have been in at the very early stage of footballer wages and nothing like what they get these days
Must have invested very well

He played right through the 90's for Spurs and Liverpool mostly. It wasn't hard to get rich. The house thn likely rose with the insane inflation through the 2000's:

I'd guess as a top player at two big clubs he was on the region of hundreds of thousands a year. Plus bonuses plus sponsorship. Not hard for a half million pound house in the early-mid 90's in an area that got more popular to be 4 million now

Very good looking woman. A bit Epsteiny in some of those shots though.

I remember her on LA Law.

Dybala wants to go United on a slightly, slightly improved deal from Juventus.

That's a good deal for a far better player than Lukaku, take it United! He's a steal in that trade.

Dybala, Wan Bissaka, James, Maguire... plus one other defender would be very good work this summer for United.

Wan Bissaka must be very close to an England call up too. Looks a beast. :D 8)

Hopefully another midfielder lined up too in case there's a late move for Pogba. All seems to be quiet on that front so I reckon he's staying but if Real came in with a £100M+ offer United should take it.

Bruno Fernandez is the player that's been linked so I guess he's the potential Pogba replacement.

I guess it's a generational thing, I hadn't heard of her before. Though I've heard of her two major shows, though never watched.

Pretty cool graphic. Scary how wages have rocketted in the last two decades.
I actually thought the average top tier wage was higher back in the early 90s. I remember a commentator making a remark about Norwich City when they were in with a sniff of the title back in the late 80s/early 90s and how their average wage was £800 a week. Looks like they were lower than the average at the time but not a million miles away. This was when they had the likes of Fleck, Townsend and Rosario playing for them.

RB Leipzig want Arsenal midfielder Smith-Rowe included on loan or possibly as a permanent move as part of the sale of Dayot Upamecano.

9 years ago today, some young Brummie lad called Troy Deeney signed for Watford.

Whatever happened to him?

edit: Re: Rosenthal, I think he's an agent now as well, so he's probably made more than a few quid doing that.

He's been sharp in pre-season. I think he might have an even better season.

I notice a little spike in the second tier earnings in 2001-2002. I was racking my brains to work out who was relegated at the end of 2001 to cause that, I had to look it up - Man City. Their players must have been, on average on about 4 times the wages of everyone else to cause that spike (if it was just down to them).

More twitter news. Countiho to Spurs apparently as Dyer is off to Man Utd.

However Arsenal Agree Personal Terms With Juventus Centre Back, Rugani. Apparently we offered £50 million for Dayot Upamecano as well but it was rejected.
