Funny, I often criticise journalists for using Twitter as research, but Sky have obviously had someone just copy what Arsenal fans have been discussing these past few days (and I posted earlier) about how the 2013 squad being almost gone. It's significant to Arsenal fans because it was supposed to be one that would be developed by Arsenal and loyal to Arsenal for years according to Wenger and the club at the time based around an English core of 7 players (Hence why Arsenal fans have criticised it periodically as players have left) is all gone bar Jenkinson (almost gone), now Kos is off.

https://twitter.com/SkySportsPL/status/ ... 2191057920

Of course the tweet misses that significance or why Arsenal fans spoke particularly about that squad.

More twitter news. Countiho to Spurs apparently as Dyer is off to Man Utd.

However Arsenal Agree Personal Terms With Juventus Centre Back, Rugani. Apparently we offered £50 million for Dayot Upamecano as well but it was rejected.

Do you mean Erikson?

To be honest I'd take either.

Horrible. I'm kinda not surprised at the racism at Chelsea, but the Peado stuff is horrific news.

Probably. The rumours are in overload mode right now, it's Countinho to Spurs now.

Yep, United seem to be going for either Dybala or Eriksen. At this point Eriksen is looking a possibility as Spurs appear to be lining up potential replacements.

Deadline day will be interesting. Could be a lot of late movement.

That was the one year of a bumper ITV digital deal - a bunch of clubs (including Watford) spunked loads on wages, and when it went pop (thanks to Murdoch) at the end of the season they were f**ked.

Ah, got you, that's a better explanation and explains why it dipped to below the previous years average the next year.

Everton bid £30 million for Iwobi. Arsenal reject and Everton will likely come back with something closer to £40 million. If we do this that's a great deal, Iwobi is neither a first teamer, nor does he have any end product.

All correct. My team (Forest) were practically insolvent by then so this stopped us from going bankrupt. ITV have previous for blowing loads of cash showing 2nd tier football thinking it would be just as good as the Premier league e.g. mid 90's. I mean who wants Liverpool v Utd when you can have Hull v Grimsby

SkyTV in Japan no longer have Premier League this season. Bit of a surprise. Lost the contract. To go with losing the NBA contract last year. What am I paying these plum for?

Probably for the best for me, I waste way too much time lolling about watching 4 replays back to back on under-employed Mondays.

Apparently he's fit now.

Good signing on paper. We still really need a decent pacy centre back and a pacy winger *cough* Sarr *cough*, but otherwise it's been an ok window. Kept our prize assets, added to the squad, padded the under 23s out. Good times.

Please be true:

Sky suggest that Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is potentially on his way to a Ligue 1 club today.

Is this from a fan of the club who spent €180m last season and €175m the year before that?

I see Man Utd fans are trending #Woodwardout because they don't spend enough or something, being second on to City in net spend.

Utd's net spend this year has been <£70 mil (less if they ship off Rojo / Smalling) & £50 mil last year.....quite small IMO when you consider the rebuilding job needed & take their global revenue into account

And -250 million the 2 seasons before that. Only City have a bigger net spend for the past 5 seasons.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier ... bewerb/GB1

I think Man Utd will look even worse when you consider wages (Sanchez ) and getting rid of management teams.

However the idea of 'net spend' is starting to lose it's meaning where football is concerned. Clubs and buying players for big cash and the acceleration of prices is so fast they flog them on for much more soon after due to the transfer market insanity and the top Spanish clubs and PSG trying to gobble up all top talent in the world. The clubs outside the top 5 in europe all seem to easily get good net spends if they want because a few clubs are trying to maintain perpetual success without developing much in the way of their own players this decade.

Chelsea are ust taking the piss by bringing back their on loan players like Pulisic and will start players like Hudson Odi. Tammy Abraham was excellent for Villa last year and hopefully Loftus Cheek and Mason Mount and Tomorin were excellent for Derby and will get some first team games under Fat Frank. Sad to see Ampadu go to Leipzig but he will be better as a player for it and he is still in his teens.

Woodward is definitely the worst thing that ever happened to United in footballing terms. He is a money guy that actually know little about sports, specially football. He does not seem to know anything about player negotiations and he wants to turn United into the something like Spurs/Arsenal used to be. Want to shop in the bargain bin and pray it will come off, or spend loads on one player and believe the fans are going to be happy.
At least the managed to sort out the defense, but they desperately needed a midfielder. United is going to be screwed if Pogba gets injured. Matic and Mata is over the hill and and as slow as tortoises these days. No matter how fast and exciting the attack might be, without someone in the middle to feed them balls they are not going to be able to do much.
Woodward is probably praying that the academy graduates do another "Class of 92"

Arsenal just made £40 million seeling Iwobi to Everton

Raul Sanllehi is some sort of business genius. Since he's been at Arsenal our transfer business has gone from a joke to the bets in town.

That seems to be another thing that United is very poor at lately. Getting rid of deadwood, They should have gotten rid of about 5 or 6 players that really are not up to standard. Woodward should not be allowed close to the negotiations/transfer table.
Let him stick with what he is good at, extracting money from every Tom, dick and harry in sponsorships. But stay far away from making football decisions.

yeah, it seems Arsenal did the correct business for the most part to make them stronger. My brother is a big Arsenal supporter, and he is pretty happy.

I think United's window was pretty average, I am happy with the defense, I think our defense will be pretty good this year, but I cannot see us winning a lot of midfield duels this year. Its going to be hard breaking down teams when opposition double up on Pogba. I think we will have to rely on a lot of counter attack goals this year, at least there is pace for that.
I really hope that some of those academy midfield players will stand up and be counted this year. But as it stand right now, i am pretty disappointed that we completely neglected the midfield
