Ollivon injured again, career ending probably.

This is why l don't follow rugby that closely anymore. The second we get a talented player he gets broken.

His is a bit of a freak injury if I understand correctly.

Pity though as he was very talented indeed.

Toulouse let slip of the bonus point this weekend. Pretty solid performance all around apart from that. ASM are very, very strong and it looks like Toulon were lucky!!!

There are some seriously classy all French centre partnerships in the start of this season.

Fickou and Danty SF

Mermoz and N'tamack ST

Fofana and Lamerat ASM

So far these 3 clubs are playing a very attractive rugby, really enjoyed it.
To be noted, this week rugbyrama top xv has 12 French ( most of the time it's only 5-6)

Well... When you see the standards of NZ-Saffa and Australia- Argentina, I am not looking forward to the games this automn...

ASM looking strong, and able to win even when they don't play well. There is a lot of power in that team, and they don't have to worry about the European Cup. Question is : will they be on top in June in terms of form and injuries?

Really enjoying the fact that I get to see some Top 14 games this year. Seems like every weekend there is someone playing out of this world.

Nadolo today for Montpelier is running rampant, try, great passes, 31-3 and not even 30 minutes in.

So... Back from Arena... The Parisian public is a quiet public, and, without the paid Banda, the stadium would have been dead quiet. Mind you, Racing were so poor that you understand the fans... I think most of them got asleep.

The stadium is amazing though, we are in the future. It feels closer to american football than rugby really, though the show could be bigger given the arena.

So all in all, please to have discovered the new stadium, please to see Top14 teams battling for away victories (this round Lyon and SF, but we had Castres, Racing, Clermont, Toulouse...)

But the rugby is pretty shit and I don't see how France will catch up with the best nations at this pace.

I find the stadium too dark and don't like an entire end taken up by a big screen.

Went last February for La Rochelle, same, didn't like the feeling even though we had good seats (near the players entrance) and when they were playing on the other side it felt like NFL, I caught a ball they kick in the stand as a give away at the beginning. ;)

The stadium is dark but the pitch is bright.

The screen at the end is a bit weird, for sure and I wonder whether this troubles the kicker when there is a penalty or a conversion.

Bon sang !

« moi je bougerais pas ! »

The entire U20 group - They are given a proper chance and there has been some decent performances to-date

Top 6 spot will be quite a battle this year. We may see Toulon replicating Toulouse performance of last season. Lyon, SF, ASM Montpellier have looked strong with Racing and ST & Castres slightly behind. It will be tough

Watch Jordan Joseph from Racing 92. He could well be invited in the French squad soon, as we lack depth at number 8 position (Picamoles is banned for his bad behaviour, and there is no obvious choice behind).

This Young kid (who won the U20 world title) has everything for him. He has the power, the efficiency in the rucks, and the skills to allow continuity of the play after he breaks a tackle and takes out couple defenders... And he is only 18...

Image

Among the Young generation, Carbonel (Toulon) at 10 could be called (again lack of depth in France) and who knows whether N'Tamack junior (Toulouse) will get a chance (he is also 18) but he plays inside center these last weeks (he can also play 10) and there is more competition for a starting slot in the centers (Bastareaud, Fickou, Fofana, Penaud, Doumayrou, Chavancy, Lamerat...). Belleau (Toulon) could get the nod ahead of Carbonel though because of his experience with Les Bleus.

Demba Bamba (Brive) is a young promising prop (watched closely by Clermont) but it may still be a bit early for him.

Among the less young, but still Young players, we could see Macalou (Stade Français) get a chance to show his Worth at 7. In fact, I could see an All Black backrow with Camara (Montpellier), Joseph and Macalou. :proud:

Camille Chat (Racing) has a few caps already but could well become a starter in the French Xv as Guirado seems badly out of form. Bourgarit (La Rochelle) is also putting in good performances.

Looking at the 24/25 boys, I expect the rise to the forefront of props Priso (La Rochelle) and Gomes Sa (Racing 92), as well as young Felix Lambey (Lyon).

Iturria (Clermont) could move to blindside flanker and become a reference in this position.

What is interesting is the rise of Young rugby players coming from the Paris suburbs.

In particular, the number of black rugby players is on the rise, and the French rugby team could soon look like the football team, with a black blanc beur generation.
