As has been pointed out, paying him a salary costs less than paying his pension along with a presidential salary for somebody else.
That said, we might have to pay for another vote sooner than seven years.

As much as I’m delighted a message has been sent to the travellers from one fifth of the country, I couldn’t bring myself to give that spoofer Casey a vote.
He might even have gotten in with the lazy turnout if enough people did a protest vote.
He has made an obvious and necessary point that no other politician or media type has the balls to do, but the role of president is a figure head with no power.

While the debate on travellers is long overdue, a populist opportunist is not somebody who deserves to represent Ireland. God knows what else he is capable of.
I'm not sure we're well equipped for this and it'll be quickly overcome by dingbats of all colours.
We have to have it.
Sure. It'll be a bloodbath though.

It will be but it needn’t be. We should be looking at integration not separation. Equality not treating them as a special group. Expect the same from them as from everyone else.

Travellers previously have rejected integration with society.
In fairness, mixing a third world way of life with a first word one is never going to work.
But in terms of carrot/stick, more stick, less carrot is needed.

People choose based on the importance. I know you're trying to spin it differently because you were in hysterics after the 8th ref and moaned about locking people up because of it, but these votes just passed lacked the importance of that. Also people aren't made of money.

It's not just the 'Travellers'.

It's a society that encourages young single women to become teenage mothers because we give them a house and income for life.

It's an open- ended welfare system that does sfa to encourage long term unemployed back to work because again we give them a free house and income for life.

It's a system that allows people to refuse a social house until the offer is one where they grew up.

etc. etc.

I got a polling card but didn't bother my hole going home to vote.
If it was slightly contentious or a social issue I'd be much more pushed. This election really didn't have significant long term implications.

The Exit poll party percentages largely mirror the last 5 opinion polls.

That means that while the turnout was low it was still a representative sample.

Meaning low turnout means x is load of bollocks spouted by fools
