Pro Haka Performance Artistry? Fair play to the kid.

Ah, yeah, I could've gone pro if I didn't have this knee injury. I'd been scouted, was in the development team and everything. Anyway, you want fries with that?

Not a WUM, just trying to understand. So given the cultural importance of the Haka, how does it square with using it for solely commercial purposes?

Yes, I get that he’s a kid and big props to him for getting off his arse and looking to earn, but given the comments elsewhere on the bored about the Haka being over used and less ‘special’ these days, isn’t doing it on demand for money pretty much the last kick over the cliff?

How does this sit with NZedders?

Not sure why it should be a problem. In my experience artists are usually very keen on getting paid. Same goes for all their various hangers-on, of course.

Absolutely - I would haka on demand for a fee.

No returns though and laughing is double the price.

We are as appalled at this blatant over commercialisation of a cultural treasure as Schweppes would be if he set up a lemonade stall.
