Agreed. He's very good, but he's not the best player in the world. I would fancy seeing him at 10 for England, with a proper 12 though.
I feel the same about Ford getting a run with a proper 12.

His defence is still poor, struggles in multi phase at 10- just not the natural Ford is. But he can kick, and England look better with the pair of them playing.

Yeah for sure- if his body holds up he’ll retire post RWC.

Unlike his dad who turned down playing for Italy back in the 80s, Polledri Jr opted to represent the Azzurri at U20s level and ended playing in the 2014 Junior World Cup on home ground.

But he remains English-qualified because of World Rugby regulations putting him in the best position to maybe one day play in the Premiership.

That last sentence might need a comma. Almost reads as if World Rugby have deliberately made him 'English' despite Italian representation already. I know what it's meant to mean, but on first read, I thought it sounded like "World Rugby are ensuring the top nations have priority access to youngsters with potential" :D

Maybe, but I think he has at least two businesses here so I guess it depends on whether he could successfully run them from abroad.
It wouldn't be to hard to grab a train back from France a few times a week.
It might not be hard but it would be a big pain in the arse.

I'm with Raggs, I don't think he'll move from Quins.

I doubt he'll move. He'll probably have some position within the club afterwards or even at headquarters as he seems well liked with the top brass.

Marler cited for striking Ioane, naturally. Ioane cited for striking Marler 4 minutes prior to the red card incident. Perhaps Ioane was responsible for Marler's injured ear.

No, it's because he's an out of control thug. There was a thread where lots of Irish posters said so.

Ioane's strike doesn't look too bad, but I guess if it caused Marler's ear to bleed like we saw...

That can't be it surely? Perhaps after the camera pans away from Marler's second tackle of Ioane, there's something?

Who knows. I don't really care about anything Ioane did anyway. Marler f**ked the game for us and with a fairly hefty ban he'll partly f**k the rest of the season for us. I'm annoyed.

It was a pivotal red card.
Like you say Fatcat, it was a massive win for us. If we lost I reckon we'd be an outside shot for the top six, but we're still well in contention now.

I think the cat is right. Just after he releases and before the get up he elbows Marler in the side of the head, just before the camera pans away.

Ford looks out of sorts. Farrell is twice the player anyway tbh. Far better competitor. Ford is a bit if a flake.

Did you see Farrell in the 3rd Lions test.

I like Ford, but he was a bit ropy at the weekend.

Got caught in possession for the first try, Lewington ran straight through him for the second and he also threw a loopy intercept that was fortunately called back for an earlier knock on.

Still wouldn't break up the Ford/Faz partnership just yet though.

Always a shame to lose promising young players. Taylor looked decent for the U20s but George Nott was far more impressive as I recall.

Perhaps we need to can the Saxons? They rarely play and we wouldn’t have this issue if our U20 was our second representative side.

Don't even need to can them just nominate the U20s as the 2nd team

from the regs

He is selected to represent the Under 20s National Representative

I dislike the idea of U20 side representation meaning your final national choice is made. Often it's simply the nature of regional developmental outcomes the next best level is U20 of where you live, which is not always what you identify as.

I also think that would constrain a lot of players in England to being essentially never having a chance at test level due to some young decisions they were possibly pushed into by ambition coaches.

That's my beef with it summed up perfectly. Youngsters sold the dream and you wouldn't blame them for believing the first person who said they were going to 'make it' as an international for their country.

There's an interview between Stuart Lancaster and a very soft-spoken, motivational mindfulness guru type out there. I wondered if his ilk were now cracking into rugby player's softer sides?
