Sarries:
FORWARDS: Hayden Thompson-Stringer, Tom Woolstencroft, Christian Judge, Dom Day, Joel Kpoku, Andy Christie, Ben Earl, Sione Vailanu.

BACKS: Matt Gallagher, Elliott Obatoyinbo, Dom Morris, Tom Griffiths, Rotimi Segun, Manu Vunipola, Tom Whiteley.

REPLACEMENTS: Christopher Tolofua, Sam Crean, Billy Walker, Cameron Boon, Sean Reffell, Henry Taylor, Charlie Watson, Reuben Bird-Tulloch.

That could be a bit of a snapshot of Falcons’ team for next season (minus the locks).

Interesting to see Blamire at 6 considering he’s played at hooker for England U20. Are they converting him?

From the Falcon's comms guy on Sportsnetwork

He's a multi-talented lad so we're just having a look to see how he goes.

Some talk of the RFU wanting Mark McCall to replace Eddie Jones. Paul Gustard seems to talk McCall and his desire and suitability down.

Quote:
'I think he wouldn't be interested in the slightest,' said 43-year-old Gustard, who left England last summer and moved to the Stoop.

'Mark's not a coach, he doesn't coach. He's an incredible person. He allowed other people to grow, he gave them rope, he gave us feedback when we needed it.

'He's obviously managed to oversee a transformation and continued success of a club for a long period of time now. I just don't think he's be interested in international coaching at all.

'Speaking to him certainly in the past it's never been something he's wanted to do. I just can't see him wanting to leave.'

Is Malins damaged or is Vunipola (related to the others?) now preferred at 10?

Malins is injured.

Manu is Mako & Billy's cousin. He looked really good for the Storm team Monday night

Cheers. Thought it wasn't a common enough surname for there to be no link. I've only seen snippets of him here and there for the U20s, but he certainly didn't look out of place. He's pretty big for a 10 iirc.

Saints to face Exeter:

15 Ahsee Tuala
14 Tom Collins
13 Rory Hutchinson
12 Piers Francis
11 Taqele Naiyaravoro
10 Dan Biggar
9 Cobus Reinach

1 Alex Waller (c)
2 Reece Marshall
3 Paul Hill
4 Alex Moon
5 Courtney Lawes
6 Jamie Gibson
7 Lewis Ludlam
8 Teimana Harrison

Replacements
16 James Fish
17 Francois van Wyk
18 Ben Franks
19 David Ribbans
20 Tom Wood
21 Alex Mitchell

22 James Grayson
23 Luther Burrell

Strictly speaking Rory counts as EQP, but seeing how he's been called up to the Scottish pre-RWC training squad it feels like a bit of a stretch

Thought the news coming out of Sarries was that he wouldn't be playing for them again this season but should be ready for the August England matches.
Much as I would like to see Marler back, he doesn't come over as someone who would change his mind on what was a major career/life decision

Marler has said 'never say never' but I agree with you and think it's unlikely.

Given his cited reasons, going into camp for a couple of months and literally being on the other side of the world for a good spell (assuming we get out of the pool this time) probably isn't going to appeal to him.

Watching him on House of Rugby, for a "once more and never again" I think he could maybe be persuaded. JMO though.

Sam Simmonds back on the bench for Chiefs, after missing virtually the whole season with an ACL.

Very welcome return - hopefully not lost any of his speed or power off the mark

I assume you could read The Mail for your answer

Anyway, no chance

He won’t, but he’s had an excellent debut season in a faltering Bath side - if he can up his tactical kicking he’d be worth a look at 15 for England.

He’s superb under the high ball (Leinster tried bombing the hell out of him in the two CC matches, the first time he’d played fullback and got absolutely no change out of him), a good defender, seems to have a good rugby brain and is (obviously) pretty rapid, with his 7s background.

One of the few bright spots for us this year!

I could globus him, good lad and done really well in 15s.

Some good tries already today

Quins lose after a referee forgets where the penalty was and the kick to win it is inches short. Dickhead. Especially given he invented a penalty that led to one of the wasps tries.

Wasps were good though, Simpson and Lovabolavu were fantastic.

Blame Smith for taking the piss with the previous one.

Well if the ref was informed of Smith stealing 3m for the first one then he'd probably be harsh on another. Equally, i think it was actually pretty close. The offence looked to be sops playing it on the floor, which was beyond the halfway line.

Here's hoping la Rochelle can get us into Europe tonight then. Always a shame when uncle Bruce's salary cap busters succeed.

So a) You're claiming Smith "stole" 3m, which is news to everyone, and b) think it's fine that if the ref missed that he should then decide to pull back an entirely different thing, 20 minutes later, to "even it up"? That's mental. Think about what you're saying here

The offence was holding on the ground, and Sopoanga was tackled on the Wasps side of halfway. The ball never even got to halfway.

Did you miss the bit from Austin doing a replay showing Smith taking yards from the mark?

And the ball definitely did go over the halfway line, but if you missed an entire replay then I'd not be surprised if you missed that.

To be honest I think he missed it by more than the distance the pen was taken back - just BT doing their bit to make everything seem dramatic.

Carley was pretty ordinary though.

Austin's claim of "three yards" was about 2ft at most. As an aside I had a right old chuckle when the ball dropped inches short at the end there.

"yards" "3m" :uhoh:

So your contention is that it's fine for a referee to alter the position of a penalty 20 minutes later because a different player might have been closer for a kick he missed earlier in the game.

That's totally normal.

Incidentally - your boys did well today. Must be pretty hopeful for next season if guys like Brookes can step up to the plate.

I also thought it was pretty ballsy of the reffing authorities to give the Exeter-Saints game to ex Quin Karl Dickson.

It would certainly be a tragedy if the CC was deprived of the magical Salford Saffas
