The relative humidity has gone from 75% + to the 50%s in about 24 hours. That's the dry continental cold. It feels different.

Sorry I should have specified London. I can't say I notice any change in London, but then the mauve bit seems to bypass us.

Might be on Tuesday where we see the real instability over the Irish sea. Need the upper at temps at about 850hPa to be low enough to create the convection from the sea.

Maybe not, but nevertheless there seems to be a yellow warning for this morning.

Was doing some garden waste disposal in the sunshine yesterday and the embers are still glowing this morning. Impressive considering the cold last night.

The ground was really hard this morning but no frost to be seen. That means it was pre-frost the most dangerous of all the frosts

Pretty heavy snowfall across Essex now. If this keeps up there'll be plenty by lunch.

It's here. Right now. Must be 2, possibly 3mm of snow and it's cold. Trains all cancelled naturally.

There was some weather expert on here explaining why it will all be fine and the forecast is wrong last week. While I don't necessarily believe him I'd like to believe him. Please come back and assure me my flight Friday will be OK

Forgive the ignorance, but what exactly is streamer activity again and what does it signify?

Streamer is a snow shower in off the sea or a lake

So at this time of year the sea is cold enough, but if the upper air temps are even colder at 1,500m altitude also known as 850hPa , then the difference in temperature between the surface and the colder air above will set up convection, lower pressure and instability, which creates moisture and falls back as snow. The comes in lines or streamers.

Is Dublin gonna get any snow today or what? Looks gloomy as heck.

Should I also expect to work from home?
