Jesus that's hours from Christchurch how far out of town are you going to go?

I've got some great pics of Arthur's Pass and Kaikoura.

I'm trying not to stray too far. It use to take us just over an hour to get there. Would get up and check the ski report and head up for the day if it was good. back to bed if it wasn't. I've always considered easy access to sking a part of Christchurch life.

Arthur's pass and Kaikoura would be more of a weekend away trip. Although we did once take a mates new car to Jackson's Tavern for a test run. :)

Hopefully there were no speed cameras or you might be getting a nasty surprise in the mail.

Cheers fellas.

Rusted, your cape town thread was my inspiration. I'm finding this quite therapeutic after having a lot of negative feelings about the city as a result of the quakes.

Here's the avon river which winds it's way through much of the city including the CBD. I used to kayak on it as a kid.

Skyline doesn't look like this anymore, but the mountains still get their white blanket in winter.

And the sea doesn't care what the skyline looks like.

Mona Vale. badly damaged in the quakes, but will hopefully be repaired.

The gatehouse was also damaged, but again, hopefully being repaired.

The gardens are still open to the public though.
