Yep. Really good. Worth watching just for the 10-15 minute single take fight scene in the prison!

Actually blazed through it last night - probably my favourite Netflix Marvel season so far. Sets it up nicely for the next season villain.

Three shows I'm currently enjoying:

Just started the new season of The Man in the High Castle.

Halfway thru The Haunting of Hill House.

Just finished Mr Inbetween. Which was most excellent, tho very short (6eps). Tho I believe it's already been commissioned for a second season.

Any Aussies (or anyone with Netflix) seen the series Glitch? I've only watched the first ep but quite enjoyed the premise. Will watch.

Daredevil's comfortably the best of the Marvel netflix shows. Punisher could get there if it follows up that first season strongly.

Cage and Jones have been decidedly meh for me. Ironfist and Defenders a further step down.

Hill House has been pretty good, but as me and a colleague were saying, a bit more horror a little less family squabbling would go a long way.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot is quite fun, I'm up to episode 8. Can get a bit teeny at times but there's some pretty decent horror content in there too. Geoff from Coupling and the mad Scottish woman from Green Wing are in it chewing the scenery for all they're worth.

Watching Midnight Texas. Kinda OK.

An interesting 'supernatural' storyline - some pretty ladies and OK effects. Pretty easy to get into.

I am quite enjoying Iron Fist. What are the major gripes with the show? Not particularly original but the main protagonist Danny Rand is quite interesting. 3 episodes in...

Speculation that Daredevil will be cancelled (absent viewing figures, but based on decline of social media mentions that parallel similar declines of Luke Cage and Iron Fist)

Possibility though that all might be continued on the streaming service that Disney will launch

independent series for cage and fist was not working, but a combined "Heroes for Hire" will...i expect them to add Jessica Jones to the cull too but keep daredevil and maybe introduce 2 new characters like White Tiger and giver he her own 1 season, also she-hulk and Black Knight though the latter will requiere a lot o f CGI which marvel TV doesn't like doing...an ETERNALS film is being made, hopefully they might introduce characters in the tv show..

Season 2 is better than season 1. My major gripe is that the actor chosen to portray Danny Rand is absolutely crap.

So much this.

He comes across doofy surfer and/or hormonal teenager. Worst of all he looks awkward when doing the martial arts portion of his character.

Also the writing for me is a bit rubbish - too many 'I have powers but I don't understand them' moments that seem to go on for the entire season. Dude - you have a frikken fist that glows and can punch stuff hard. Use it.

Watched 5 or 6 episodes of the Disenchanted cartoon by Matt Groening and it's rather disappointing so far. Didn't expect it to be as good as Futurama, but well, it's very, very underwhelming. Neither setting, characters, nor jokes seem particularly inspired.

So this doesn't fit the topic other than it's a tv show but I've just got around to watching Mad Men. I had heard so much about it and perhaps seen an episode or 2 back in the day.

I am watching the Good Place with my wife (which is fun and surprisingly smart) but for when she's working etc, I have my own series on the go and thats MM. It can be bloody tedious at times and horrendous in this #metoo environment. Every now and again it perks up a little and keeps me watching. Peggy is by far the best character. I'm not sure if I will make 7 seasons unless it picks up dramatically. I've just started season 2.

It’s very good yeah, and just as grim. That new lawyer Kathleen Zellner is just so convincing, she has an incredible understanding and clarity of every aspect of the case but the state just ain’t letting those two lads out. Felt sorry for the young idealistic academic lawyer from Southwestern, she was just miles out of her depth.

4 episodes in to making a murderer series 1. I'm absolutely astounded.

Was extremely disappointed with the final episode of haunting of hill house.

Watched Godless on Netflix over the past week or so. It's a Western revenge story type thing, 7 episodes only, I thought it was brilliant. They must have thrown serious money at it.

US network Showtime has ordered a follow-up series to ‘Penny Dreadful’, which will move the action to LA it has been announced.

‘Penny Dreadful: City of Angels‘ is described as a “spiritual descendant” of the ‘Penny Dreadful’ story which moves from Victorian-era London to 1938 Los Angeles, in time and place deeply infused with Mexican-American folklore and social tension. Rooted in the conflict between characters connected to the deity Santa Muerte and others allied with the Devil, the drama will explore an exciting mix of the supernatural and the combustible reality of that period, creating new occult myths and moral dilemmas within a genuine historical backdrop. This chapter is a bold new vision that will employ all new characters and storylines.

The watch
Quote:
BBC America has greenlit ‘The Watch‘, a new series based on Sir Terry Pratchett’s popular and beloved ‘Discworld’ novels it has been announced.

The Watch is described as a punk rock thriller inspired by the legendary ‘City Watch’ subset of “Discworld” novels. This disruptive, character-driven thriller centres on Terry Pratchett’s misfit cops as they fight to save a ramshackle city of normalized wrongness, from both the past and future in a perilous quest. Modern and inclusive, The Watch features many famous “Discworld” creations including City Watch Captain Sam Vimes, the last scion of nobility Lady Sybil Ramkin, the naïve but heroic Carrot, the mysterious Angua and the ingenious non-binary forensics expert Cheery together with Terry Pratchett’s iconic characterization of Death.

Not sure about that description of Cheery, TBH. The entire point of her character was that she's explicitly female. Non-binary is a load of crap and misses the entire point. Non-conformist or unconventional, maybe.

I hope that they don't try shoe-horn in modern crap touchy feeling crap to hit all the "right" notes.

I haven't read the books, I guess Geralt is a fair bit younger then. Well this one isn't really my idea of Triss...

Perhaps she'll be a bit more like it with a red wig or dyed.

yes, he is younger in the books, around 100 :) (witchers age slowly)
they're a great read btw

and that doesn't look like a good triss choice, though in the books she is far less important than in the games, yennefer and ciri are key

i guess they'll have to mix books and games somewhat (character looks etc.), as most of the fans will only know the latter

My excitement at the prospect of this being amazing is tempered by terror that they're going t fudge it up.
