Winding Refn's great with visuals and... nope that's it. Then again, I may be in the minority since I think Drive is an ok film that's massively over-hyped.

I hope so. I loved Drive but Only God Forgives and The Neon Demon were disappointingly shit.
The Neon Demon was amazing! If you didn't like that, you won't like this.

Just watched episode 5 - and it was genuinely one of the greatest episodes of television I have ever seen.
Watched episode one. I give it a solid Meh. 50% on Metacritic seems right at the moment. I'll give it another episode. If they cut out all the Refn pauses it'd be a 21 minute episode.

Drive reminded me of Korean films.. the sparse dialogue and lack of overbearing soundtracks
I quite like films like that

Cant recommend Brian Cox's The Planets enough.
Amazing detailed (for the layman) overview of the solar system. Stunning CGI and it never gets boring.

Began watching Years & Years and The Virtues over the weekend, one BBC, the other Channel 4.

fudge me, The Virtues is your typical Shane Meadows relentless bleakness in the first episode. You feel both incredibly sorry for Stephen Grahams character and worry that he simply needs someone to light the flame for him to do something really f**king stupid. However I'm a fan of all Meadows tv and film work (This Is England is one of the best film/tv series I've ever watched) and when the end comes I expect it will be be both enthralling and gut wrenching.

Years and Years has an interesting premise. Follow an extended family's lives from 2019 thru to 2034 and the effect on their lives and those around them of the social & political turmoil that occurs during that period (the rise of extreme popularists, technology, transhumanisn etc). I thought the first episode was OK but there was enough there to justify perseverance.

Will look out for it

His stuff is mind-blowing. He does a great job of explaining the inexpiable, and leaves me with such a profound sense of our own fragility and mortality.

The Planets was brilliant. Really enjoyed it.

Good Omen's was terrific too. Tennant and Michael Sheen are clearly really enjoying themselves.

Out today.

Watched EP1 tonight, was fantastic. I hate bingeing it cause you wait 12 months for 8 eps, I'll watch the rest over the next 10 nights or so.

Watching Fargo Season 3. Actually quite shit, in comparison to the first 2 anyway. Season 4 out soon with Chris Rock. I’m hoping they return to form.

Season 2 is unfairly maligned by plenty, it wasn't quite as good as the first, but it was still very watchable. Suffered, as the first did, from insufficient screen time for the gribblies in my book, but then I'm a creature feature hound.

It takes a while to warm up, but I thought VM Varga ended-up being every bit as good a villain as Lorne Malvo in this first series (the Coen brothers always do great villains tbf).

First episode of Stranger Things was excellent - going to be a real struggle to restrict them to 1 per night

watching this somewhat rated show called Euphoria about drugs, teens, transgenders and sex, with that Disney girl Zendaya in the lead though she hasn't been nude yet, some tits, but a lot of cocks in this ...Folau would love this show :P

It was shite. A text book case of big budget and plenty of hype not equaling a good show.

I think Dark is a much better show in 80's vibe Sci-fi genre.

I got bored of stranger things fairly quickly.

SR3 ended well, its good netflix realised that they don't need to put out 13 episodes when 8 is way more than enough for a show..season 4 already ordered...hope to see more "superkids" next season..

I think that’s a key part of its charm, the whole 2 dimensional cardboard cutout bad guys and massively sexist offices etc.
It’s an homage to the type of tv shows we got back then. Catnip for us gen Xers and very easy to forgive if you grew up on the A team and Dallas.
It’s deliberate and tongue in cheek and very well done.
Let’s us have a chuckle at the bullshit of our youth.

Watched the first ep of The Loudest Voice in the Room over the weekend. Highly enjoyable. Russell Crowe may well win a Best Actor Emmy.

It's no surprise that the creation and rise of Fox News ultilised the talents of the significant number of Australian Newscorp execs that surround(ed) Murdoch (at the time). Therefore I think its acceptable to blame Australia for the rise Trump.

To be fair it appeared that there were some who were utterly horrified at the approach Roger Ailes was fometing, but there were as many that were enablers, particularly Rancid Murdoch himself.

Still one has to admire Ailes ability, even tho he was seemingly an incredible scumbag, to build an entire network from the ground up in little more than 6 months, particularly as MSNBC got the jump on it.
