thanks. Can you name a country and service? I have access to most UK and US stuff, but it isn't available on any of their (legal) services that I could see from JustWatch. I can maybe get creative with VPNs to access other countries

Thought it became a bit of a parody of itself by season 4, sadly. Soapier than a Babs Windsor bath-time tit wank.
Wait... I didn't think it had aired on English-speaking TV yet? So, assuming, er, your friend is watching a less-than-legit copy... has it got homemade subtitles, or are you chaps just fluent in Italian?

I'm about 4 episodes into S3 myself

I meant season 3

Watching Chernobyl at the moment. One review said it perfectly captured the sense of impending doom and dread. I can testify to that. Very tense to watch.

Yeah. Watched it over the weekend. OMFG! The firey who was in the final stages looked like a living breathing figure from one of those ghoulish human taxidermy exhibitions that tour about. Stripped to the muscle.

So easy to place judgement on people like his wife whose natural inclination is to try to hold and comfort him, and you're just thinking "jesus you dumb bitch", but you also know it's simply not her fault. The intransigence of the State in telling the public and those affected absolutely nothing including precautions.

I listened to an interview with Jared Harris on the most recent Empire Magazine podcast over the weekend and apparently the final episode is a play by play breakdown of the actual clusterfuck on the night.

Just an incredible show. Structured perfectly, like a true life detective story that we all know how it ends but is absolutely gripping from start to finish.

Just finished EP4, the final indeed is the full breakdown and court investigation into what went on. The use of bio-robots just insane. Incredible TV show that deserves all the plaudits its getting

The level of arse covering is a sight to behold.

The bit where they are trying to pass off the radiation risk as the equivalent of a chest x-ray and them using the maxed out reading of a low level detector as the 'official' figure in the report is staggering.

+1. Epic, gritty and uber realistic. Read someone familiar with 80's CCCP who said even the tiny details are spot on - like men wearing wedding rings on their right hand not their left. Anyone whinging its not in Russian with sub titles can FRO - If you're reading sub titles you're missing the drama.

some scenes of Chernobyl are directly taken from svetlana alexievitch 's Чернобыльская молитва. Хроника будущего (in french la supplication, dunno the english title), one of the best books on the subject , terribly moving and would highly recommand it if you liked the show

There is a completely valid reason they didn't go the accent route.

The vast majority of the people involved weren't Russian and therefore had different accents (Belarusian, Ukrainian, Moldovan....) and they purely couldn't have done justice to them properly.

Chernobyl is rated number #1 on IMDB... that is rare, not many shows have done that, the last was the first seasons of GoT and Breaking bad..is moreso rare for mini-serese, the last being Band of Brothers ...

I signed up to YouTubes 30 day free trial because I had heard, from a mate and some respected reviewers, that Cobra Kai was marvellous entertainment worth subscribing to.

Thank fudge I didn't pay for it.

Tho Wayne on the other hand is very entertaining. I intend to get thru all of it before the 30 days is up.

Good omens obviously spent the budget on Tennant and Sheen's salaries, not the CGI budget but that was a good call.

Worth watching.

Don't they paint the boys out to be saints though? They were gang members and particularly nasty ones too.

The documentary 'The central park 5' is decent, although also falls foul of the same criticism in parts..

I watched all ten episodes of What We Do In the Shadows, the vampire mockumentary TV show based on the vampire mockumentary film. It's very funny, in a really pleasant enjoy the journey and be shocked by a few roaring laughing out loud moments.

I doubt it'll ever get huge appeal in the US, where it's made, but it has enough of Spinal Tap/Best In Show/A Might Wind stuff going on that there'll be a dedicated hardcore following that it appeals to purely because of how different it is.

That was a brilliant scene, when all the vampires appear. "It's him! IT'S HER!!" And then they all do the dramatic vampire hiss and I wish that was a real way of communicating displeasure in real life.
