National certainly seem more effective at biffing their dead wood. Both parties have plenty of it to get rid of.
After the next election, all the MP's should be escorted into the beehive, shown their shiny new offices, and then the doors to the building should be locked. That way they will be safely contained for the next three years.
I've got good and bad news, FOG.

The bad news is that there's nowhere near enough room for 130 MPs and staff in the Beehive offices, which is why Bowen House and Parliament House are used.

The good news is that such a plan could create a Lord of the Flies situation. I'm all in on that.
We could live stream it. Would be at least as interesting as the big brother house.
Who would be last one standing? I'm betting on Judith Collins or Ron Mark.
I dunno, somehow, after the smoke had cleared and the camera pans around the room, there Winnie be sitting with a glass of something in hand going "I warned you"

Yep, Winnie is un-killable. Crusher Collins will clear the house for him but he'll take her out in the end.

I think she'll take Brudges out first before striking at the Labour MPs.

Damn, I really want to watch this show now.

Basically, you're saying that Winnie is the archetypal cockroach that would supposedly survive nuclear Armageddon.

I'd suspect there'd be a long list of people wanting to take him down first. He'd take a few out for sure, but he'd be overwhelmed by the numbers.

Classic underrating of his ability to survive in stark contrast to your previous sentence. :D

He'd be taken out... only to miraculously emerge once the numbers have been whittled down a bit more. How did he survive? Nourished somehow on short-wave radio broadcasts of horse racing and stashes of heavily buttered bread and single malt whisky.

Despite the lives they’ve led Bob Jones and Winston are going to outlive all of Keith Richards style , they probably all sold their souls to the devil at the same crossroads.

Winston says he will answer all questions about the NZ first foundation on Facebook live within the next 48 hours . Does anyone really think that will happen?

Just yesterday he was claiming he wasn’t involved in it at all

Well, interesting first session at parliament by the looks of the TV news soundbites. So much for relentless positivity was the intro.

Jacinda is my ultimate survivor. The speed and strength of a thoroughbred. The ability to cloak herself in various garb, charm snakes and hypnotise with her expressive hands and beaming smile would make her a dangerous proposition. Factor in she is grossly underestimated because of her image as a dumb nag would see her conquer all.

Cullins fingers are everywhere regarding Labours sex scandals . His brother in law was the judge in the summer camp groper case, the judges wife was a labour mp too.

Also the leaked report into the rapey former leader of young labour says they went out of their way to protect the accused and did very little to help his accusers.

But, but ,misleading ads etc.

I’m sorry, I didn’t realise you could do a bunch of bullshit advertisements if the opposition has issues around a sex scandal.

Its cool no need to apologise. A lot of people lose perspective about these sorts of things, personally I think having continual issues with young staff members being sexually assaulted should be a far more pressing issue than deliberately misleading ads but guess which one seems to be more of an issue to a lot of people? Seems odd to me how quickly Labours sleazy behaviour drops out of the news cycle.

Tbf, there aren't many political ads out there that don't contain a large amount of BS. Be they the "They're xxx" or the "we're xxx" kind.

Selfishness and the 3 year election cycle wins yet again.

This Rio Tinto bullshit. Asking for government and local government to part fund disposing their toxic waste and then backing out of the agreement. That, and their constant threats to close Tiwai Point.

Just spit-balling here, as I haven't thought through the full consequences, but say the government called Rio Tinto's bluff and closed Tiwai Point, what would stop the government from nationalising the smelter? Do Rio Tinto own the bauxite trade and could prevent Tiwai receiving the raw materials?

800. Not sure about skill, but a lot would find it hard to get employment elsewhere. Still, a good old fashioned socialist nationalisation would be fun.

When was the last nationalisation? When the govt rescued Air NZ from near bankruptcy, or maybe something to do with rail since then rings a bell?

We bought NZ rail off Toll in 2008 .

The problem with nationalising it is likely to be the same as the oil industry in Venezuela, the people who run the technical side of the plant are likely to leave with Rio Tinto and the place could be offline for a while until replacements are found . Also where are we going to source Bauxite from ?

Doesn’t the plant take up something like 25% of the power generated in NZ?

Rio Tinto are the 2nd biggest bauxite producer in the world, so bauxite supply would definitely be an issue. I'd be wondering if one of their competitors might get a bit of joy from f**king Rio Tinto over though. Tiwai supposedly produces the highest quality Aluminium in the world and is one of only 2 smelters able to produce ultra-high quality Aluminium. This is why I think Rio Tinto's closure threats are bullshit. If it's being closed down, then the value of the site would catastrophically decline as it's probably a contaminated site. Hard for Rio Tinto to claim a significant 'sales price' in the event of closure.

My uncle recently retired from there.

Believe me there are some skilled jobs in the place.

The big issue is not that it employ 800.

It all the other jobs around the place and in Inver's itself associated with it that will be lost.
