would it not be better to allow the lockdown "off" say ...every fourth day 12-4 otherwise everythings shut.

progressives and foodstuffs must be rolling around on the floor laughing at this.
Because everything you can get at a butchers or greengrocers or fruit shop etc, you can get at a supermarket or dairy.

So you don't need them open.

Its not about economic competition or "fairness"

Its about stopping the virus by cutting down interaction to the barest minimum

My mate is locked up with his wife, she was born deaf and her way of arguing is to yell very loudly what she wants to say so he can't get a word in then turn off her hearing aids and ignore him. This happens quite regularly even when they are both working, when they are locked up together........

Gunna be a looooooooooong 28 days for him.

Between looking after the kids, and work, I'm absolutely stacked out. The missus and I are working in shifts. I do 8 till 2 for work while she looks after the kids, then we swap and I look after the kids while she works until it's time for bed. I'm going to be absolutely drained by the end of this.

Oh man that is bad.

I have an opposite story. Mate of mine is officially single but has a lady friend he catches up with 2-3 times a week. He definitely does not want to hook up with her permanently but enjoys her company. They had to make the big decision. Spend 4 weeks living together or not see each other for 4 weeks. They were close to making the call to lockdown together but then her daughter came home from university for the lockdown period so that made their decision for them.

I asked him how he was coping not seeing her and he said they were going to have online virtual sex.

Ha. Fortunately for him I think that he's OK to move between - the combined three of them can be a single bubble across two houses. The important thing is no leaks between bubbles, not that they're in one house or two (hence kids with shared parenting). I'm clarifying that situation for myself over the next few days.

Nah, no way Maka was mobile enough for test rugby. He was deadly at provincial level but too leaden of hoof for international rugby.

Say what you want about Randell - cruiser, overrated, the worst AB captain in test history - he was at least athletic.

At least you buggers can go to the shops , we can’t even go out the front door !

I’ll have to make do with the back decking .

Thank goodness I took the advice of the Air NZ customer service and went on the first flight available.

She said many were pushing it back a few days , I guess they are looking at hotels now , with no room service .

Main reason why I pushed it as long as I did was the fact that for my brother it was pretty much a one off , a trip a small inheritance already paid for to my mother’s favourite country in the world . He is of the autistic spectrum and it was all a pretty big deal . Luckily I got my timing right , or I could have been heading to divorce* .

As I said my other 1/2 is seriously committed, can you imagine the most dangerous and mentally unwell offenders having their delusional beliefs systems confirmed ?

It’s the end of the world !!

Yeah but if you're out of work and can't pay the mortgage temporary cash flow relief is exactly what some will need. Nobody that can afford to pay their mortgage should take it up.

Not a criticism of Randell just saying that after Hart played him as captain at No.8 and the All Blacks failed miserably (5 consecutive losses) in 1998 he brought Maka in at 8 and moved Randell to 6 and the AB's were much more effective. Thought that would be the selection going forward but oh no, Hart moved Randell back to 8 in 1999. And we all know what happened next

Randall was a very good 6 .

But a quite average to ineffective 8.

Wasn’t Maka taken out of the away game after crushing the Boks , before they began their unlikely comeback to win ?

Or is my memory playing tricks on me .

I also remember ( again perhaps faulty ) Olo Brown making utter mince meat of the Bok front row , over their line , standing up and laughing at them .

Pretty sure this f**ked his back ?

🤷🏼‍♂️

Yes correct. The AB's had built a very good lead and Maka had been very effective as a powerful ball runner at 8 helping us dominate the Boks to that point. Then Maka was taken out accidentally by a Robin Brooke elbow in the nose in a lineout and had to leave the field. That was when the Boks launched their comeback and we lost again! Fourth in a row I think. One more loss to the Wobblies in Sydney to complete our anus horribilis.

No I honestly don't really remember that aspect of the game. I know we were pretty dominant up until Maka went off.

Iirc didn't they have an SAS camp and Isi, Joeli and Jonah all turned up massively overweight and all came last in the 3k run. I remember it being on the 6 o'clock news and my mum laughing saying even she could run 3k in 20 minutes. Think I remember reading a book of Jonah's and he mentioned being bummed out they were even smoked by the props but one in particular embarrassed him, maybe someone coming back from an injury.

I did , and had abit of a chuckle .

Thing is I was watching the latest reports like a hawk , and had two people prompting me from that end as well , consisting reading Air NZ’s updates as well .

I was committed to this trip but not irresponsibly .
Having my brother to consider .

I think that I made the correct choices under some stress , but still had a ball.

Morning car count on Maioro St Akl. 0735 - 0745. 115 cars. Equates to 690 per hour. 5 trucks, 1 bus.

Last night 1740 - 1750. 98 cars. 4 trucks.

What lockdown? (OK, some will be essential workers)

I think you'll have to give the roads a bit of slack.
When it comes time for me to have a shop in a week or so I'll be taking a drive for it.

There's no way I'm calling into the petri dish of Park n spend Lincoln Road or any of the west Auckland mainstream supermarkets. I'll be headed to Remuera New World where everything is onsite.

My plan was to hit up the Aussie Butcher here in Henderson but they've been shut down as not essential, so it's thrown me a bit of a curve as to what to do.

I'm still confident I'll only need to top up every 10-12 days, but I'm going to need to travel across town to keep movement to a minimum.

Just checked on the grandkids.....secondary school age. Mothers reply.....

Yep all sorted for day 2 here. Both children are in online hangouts with their classes. Had the first one at 8:30am so it’s all go here. They spend the day in meetings for each class and then daughter does the same for dance instruction. It’s very social this lock up isolation. Pretty cool really.

Maioro St a pretty busy road anyway from my experience. The Mt Roskill end of it has a supermarket and a bunch of those ethnic food places which are all presumably running.

I can tell my road (Glengarry Road, Glen Eden) is practically dead in comparison. It's a backwoods road anyway and borders on the Waitakere ranges. It's kind of a main link road between Henderson and New Lynn / Titirangi though so does see a bit of traffic ordinarily. But there's almost none.
