One of the guys on Silver & Black Pride re-listed our draft picks in the rounds we could/should have taken them and it looks a lot more impressive:

1 - Hurst (DT)
2 - Key (DE)
3 - Miller (OT)
3 - Hall (DT)
4 - Nelson (CB)
5 - Parker (OT)

If, and it could be a big "if", Hurst's heart condition checks out okay, then that's a phenomenal upgrade to the DL

Of course just about every one of those has fitness/off-field issues that could back-fire, so just like old times...

For sure!

Many have even suggested the Ghost of Al Davis was looking over Gruden's shoulder during the draft process and selection...

That's being very optimistic. Mayock said every one of the 10-15 teams he spoke to about Hurst said they had him completely off their board. He could easily have gone undrafted if that's true.

Arden Key is a major headache. Big red flags around that guy.

Finally trawled through the rest of the draft and Baltimore and (spit) Denver impressed me the most.

Best draft story this year. Couldn't be happier for this young man.

How hard would it be to get tickets to a game for either the Steelers or the Eagles?

Eagles, now, after last season . . . . . if you haven't got them yet it'll be difficult. We used to go down to a Seahawks game every year, and then they won the SB. Now it's twice the price and really difficult to get tickets. But I'm sure it will ease as their slide continues.

Steelers is always a popular team (not to me), so that will also be quite tough, but should be easier than Eagles.

Remember, there's only 8 home games a year so any solid team is selling out quick.

Not sure if already in here but Hard Knocks is on the Browns this year

Should be interesting with Mayfield in tow.

Rapey Winston has picked himself up a ban to start the season, due to sexually assaulting an Uber driver.

Ryan Fitz gets yet another chance as a starter.

Saquon Barkley has the #4 selling jersey, Baker Mayfield #30. Good job Browns.

Good news for 49'ers fans: Jimmy G is gonna do a lot of scoring this year

Bad news: She's a porn star

Kiki, do you love me? Jimmy Garoppolo may have to steal that line from Drake because he’s very into porn star Kiara Mia and is dying to see her again!

“Jimmy’s phone is blowing up today with teammates texting and teasing him about taking Kiara out for a romantic dinner.

Plenty of guys in the league date porn stars, but they usually have them in a private setting like a hotel room with room service, not out in public at a fancy restaurant in Beverly Hills,”

Doesn't that happen with every Browns first round pick? The fans have to dispose of last year's jersey because it's embarrassing having that failure emblazoned across their back... :P

I have no doubt they are sick of buying jerseys of bust draft picks, but #30 for a top pick QB is bad. Sounds like fans are taking a wait and see approach.

1 - Hurst (DT)

3 - Miller (OT)
3 - Hall (DT)
4 - Nelson (CB)
5 - Parker (OT)

Training Camp update:

Hurst - impressing, but in second team reps
Key - virtually unblockable, made Miller and Parker his personal play-things and even left Osemele grasping at thin air
Miller - done okay against everyone except Key, who has been bitch-slapping like it's going out of fashion
Hall - missed half the camp with injury, now getting second team reps
Nelson - finally fit and the only DB to get near intercepting Carr, looks useful
Parker - a lot to learn and also bitch-slapped by Key

Gaeron Conloy was fit for one day, which is one more that last season. Now injured. Again.
Obi-Wan Melifonwu finally getting 1st team reps - everyone else is crocked - and getting flak for penalties
Donald Penn hasn't been in practice yet, badly need to see him fit - and if Key is the real deal
Mack - still holidng out, speculation that Mark Davies doesn't have enough money to pay him until the Week One money comes in (needs to put Signing Bonus money into Escrow and doesn't have the spare cash).

Two days of contested practice against Detroit coming up - followed by first pre-season game on Friday (also Detroit).

As soon as the helmet-to-helmet rule was announced, there wasn't a Raiders fan that didn't think Joseph was in trouble... He'll have to adapt fast. That said, I thought he was a little unlucky with the call yesterday on Abdullah... maybe?

As long as the refs are consistent - but by fuck it's going to be tough to police.

Anyway, the Raiders looked a well-drilled outfit yesterday. Should be able to get two 1sts from the Broncos for Connor Cook.

Mayfield and Taylor both had good game 1s which is huge for Cleveland. Also I hear Mayfield looks the part in hard knocks too regarding attitude and leadership. If he works out, that may change everything for the Browns.

Also the Jets Duo of Darnold and Bridgewater looked pretty good too. Bridgewater may end up as trade bait.

Biggest injury is probably Washington Indigenous Persons running back Derrius Guice has torn his ACL and the 2018 2nd Round pick will miss the entire season.
Expect some sort of trade sooner rather than later.

Looked good on both sides of the ball.
And Beastmode still has a bit of gas.

Yes, I know it's only pre-season but this time last year we looked one-dimensional on offense and utterly clueless on defence.
Funnily enough, both previews panned out as reality.

Looks to be increasing speculation on Mack, exercise the 5th and then two Franchise Tags if we aren't willing to meet his $22M a year demands.
Personally, I'd say "pay the man".
Yes it's expensive to have a Franchise QB and a potential HOF pass rusher on the books at the same time but sheer class is worth whatever you pay for it. Especially when he's your only genuine Star on defence.

Before the Draft "everyone" was saying the Raiders absolutely, definitely had to take a Linebacker in the First Round.
And that we should draft Roquan Smith. Or maybe Tremaine Edmunds if Smith goes early.
Of course, Chicago screwed up Plan A by taking Smith (although it turns out we were never interested) and we passed on Edmunds.

Now, Pittsburgh are trying Edmunds at Strong Safety (fair enough, they are strong at LB) but Chicago can't even get Smith on the field.
He is the one and only 2018 Draft pick who has yet to sign his contract - apparently the hold up concerns the language that Chicago want to put in there regarding fines & bans for "Leading with the Helmet" penalties.
We may have dodged a bullet.

Meh, his rating was 103 against the Falcons. He's a rookie, so hot and cold is what you'd expect. I see his completion % was pretty consistent across the two games (but its all on less than 20 attempts so small sample size).

Jets have Bridgewater to start the season with and let Darnold develop in his own time.

It's the Bills who need to be most worried about their drafted QB at this point I'd say.

The Jets aren’t trading Teddy as suggested above. That would be stupid. When you look at some of their recent QBs, Smith, Hackenburg ( ), Darnold... Bridgewater is the best. Anyone who said trade him doesn’t understand football and probably just repeats what they hear on TV or the radio.

Teddy's deal is only a year, bar an injury elsewhere his trade value is just not high. Much more value in starting him while Darnold gets his reps.

It's not clear to me what starting Darnold would achieve, the surrounding cast is dismal.
