Sam one yesterday which had the Raiders picking a do-it-all Safety at #7.

Seriously!

I mean, how the fück are the Raiders going to win enough games this year to be picking 7th.

The Cleveland Browns are coming to Oakland on Sunday - arguably as favourites.
And if we lose that game then we could be looking down the barrell of 0 - 16.

The offense is good for a half, then gets shut down every game.
The defence is good for a half, then gets opened up.

With Mack, we'd be 2 - 1, without there's no pass rush and opponents just need to hang in there until the 4th Quarter.

As for when we go to Arrowhead - I'm scared.
They might need a bigger scoreboard that night.

I'd say that upwards of 50% of all Deacon Jones sacks would now also be GBH.

Let me play Gruden's advocate here for a moment.

Even with Mack, you guys are maybe a borderline playoff team at best right now. Certainly a long way from being a Superbowl contender. There are quite a number of holes in the roster that need fixing and Mack's contract ties up a lot of cash.

Paying an elite defensive playmaker that sort of money makes sense if you are in a "win-now" window. So I'm delighted the Rams signed Donald to the money, but surely there's an argument that the Raiders might be better in 2-3 years time with two extra 1st round talents on their roster rather than a 30yr old well-paid Khalil Mack?

Instead, Gruden and Mckenzie get a run at 2 draft classes with 4 1st round picks (and if I were them I'd be looking at perhaps trading away other assets if I can) and they save plenty of cap space to address other areas via free agency.

Also, I imagine the Raiders organisation's priority will be 2020 season when the Las Vegas move takes place. If they suck for 2 years now in front of an already disgruntled Oakland crowd in order to be much better for their new Vegas fans, I imagine they will be fine with that (A page right out of the Stan Kroenke organisational playbook). Not that I'm praising that attitude or the move to Vegas, but that's the reality of it for their front office / ownership.

Of course it sucks to be a Raider fan now - and there's every risk they fudge it up and blow those 2 picks for no real return - but I can see why someone who knows he has a major roster rebuild on his hands (and the protection of that 10 year contract) decides on that trade.

It will be interesting what happens to Carr. Gruden's track record suggests a preference for game manager veteran QBs who are low risk (Brad Johnson, Rich Gannon) and surrounded by more free agent veterans at running back and wide receiver (Hello Jordy Nelson). His teams tended to be weighted to younger talent on the defensive side.

The 2019 free agent class right now doesn't strike me as having a Gruden QB in it. So either he decides he's fine with Carr (and having spent a decade as supposedly a QB guru he really should be looking to get the best out of him) or there's a trade (and I could see a team take a chance on Carr and flip a decent pick back to Oakland which fits the rebuild strategy above) or there has already been the trade because I've just a wild hunch that AJ McCarron is just the sort of guy Gruden would like running his offense.

Steelers pass rush really made a difference and then when it cooled off in the second half...
Will be interesting to see if they stick Winston straight back in. With their pass rush, the Bears secondary might absolutely feast on Fitzpatrick.

Thursday night shootout in LA. 48 points in the first half. 28 -20 Rams at Halftime. Both Cousins and Goff on pace for 500 yard games.

Hekker's outrageous pump-fake and then 50 yard bomb on the fake punt has confused the NFL fanstasy system so much that the next drive has called Goff / Gurley 56 yard play as Hekker passing to (safety) Lamarcus Joyner. Well I suppose it's possible McVay calls that at some point.

4th quarter, 10 point lead. Surely you just pound it with Gurley and Brown here and give Goff's magic arm the rest of the night off. Time of possession is crazy because the speed of these Rams drives. Slow it down boys.

Bollocks. Zuerlein's groin needs to be good for the playoffs because Ficken's shaky.

Great game. Could easily be repeated for the NFC title although the Vikings schedule is brutal. They get the Eagles on Monday night next.

Goff's passer rating for the game was perfect 158.3. Only the 69th time its been done and the first time done on 33 pass attempts (Ken O'Brien had 32). Also record number of passing yards in a perfect game.

Absolute historic performance from a "system" QB.

Holy shit, the Raiders defence is all-time laughably bad.

I am not in the least bit surprised.
