He is though.

Difference between Cave and Trimble is that Cave's best attributes haven't quite faded in the same way.

20. Murphy seems more likely.

Didn’t he have an operation last week? Doubt he’ll be playing the first 2 games.

It's amazing how overrated Zebo and TOH are amongst casual fans.

Certainly hope so. Our hooker stocks take a plummet when hes not around. And Best will be 37. Certainly a worry.

Hooker, 9 and 10 are concerns (9 and 10 just for the huge dropoff in quality from first to second choice). Everywhere else is great. What a strange place to find ourselves!

Scannell and Tracy both out so it leaves Herring, Best and Cronin as our hookers. Though I think Scannell is due back mid-6N's?

Probably been done but BOD was on OTB last week saying Zebo should start at 15, more so as well because lack of depth, then I think named TOH as another option

got to be Kearney at FB though

Unless they're trying to pressurise him into staying by refusing to name him until he commits to Leinster, I can't see how Cronin could possibly miss out with Tracy and Scannell injured. The latter will probably be called up if he recovers quickly but Cronin would still be challenging him for the bench spot (although you'd still start Scannell first).

Expectations for the 6N?

Think we got our rebuilding done last year so would be disappointed if we were not in the running for the championship in the final weekend.

Absolutely. We're strong favourites to beat France and even if we struggle in Paris I'd be very disappointed to lose there. Three home wins should be a minimum expectation, no disrespect at all to Scotland and Wales who I both expect to be competitive. England away obviously our biggest test, might come down to how well we do on the injury front.

I expect Scotland to be more than merely competitive this year but we still need to be aiming to beat them.

Billy V will be missed badly by England. They struggle to make yards with their pack without him.
Their second row are good at hitting rucks and tidying up messy ball but they don't have a huge amount of explosive ball carriers.

Well, by 'competitive', I mean that they'll have a chance of winning. I think we might have different views on the exact meaning of the word. Home advantage should bring us home though.

I'd be disappointed if we won fewer than 4 games tbh. We should win the three home ones, I think we should beat France, England obviously are favourites to beat us but who knows.

We certainly couldn't style ourselves as dark horses. It remains a hoor of a tourney to win though. Don't see anyone coming through unscathed. Scots could well be the scalp takers this time out.

Now that a Welsh club is taking the club game seriously Wales'll be fcuked. They can't sustain a two club challenge. That's my rule of thumb anyways and I'm sticking to it. Disregard this if the selectors select Scarlets en masse in an effort to save money on jersies now their TV monies are getting squeezed.

We should be there or thereabouts. England with a few really key injuries really does open things up although that's not to be mentioned off this thread.

I'll be really annoyed if we don't beat France. They're shite and we're not, it's as simple as that.

We'll beat France and then lose to Wales in Dublin, who'll then go back to being shit against everyone else.

The current odds have us playing a GS match in London.

We're just over evens to win the first 4 games and around 1/2 to win all the home games. Obviously Italy given no chance but Wales and Scotland aren't seen as likely winners either. Scotland actually stronger favs to beat us than Wales.

Scannell was apparently touch-and-go to play last weekend, so I would imagine that he'll be back playing in the next week or two and fit for the 6N.

That's it.
Three wins last year was acceptable in the wider context of blooding new players and freshening up the team.

This year, we should be building on the autumn games, the new more adventurous approach and try to win the tournament.

I don't think we've lost a 6N game in Dublin since Kidinme. Scotland are the biggest threat imo, Wales f**ked with injuries.

I would have fancied them too but they’re front row stocks are descimated by injuries. According to the Scottish posters they’re down to at least 3rd choice in all three positions. No squad could cope with that sort of misfortune but especially not the Scots who aren’t that strong in this area anyway.

England missing Hughes, Daly, Billy V is slightly easier. They weren’t overly impressive in the summer (even though then won) and I dont think Eddie really knows what his best team is past 12

Will be a tight game but I think we can beat them

I hope so. I've locked a trip in to Twickenham and we really should be going there unbeaten.

A week and 3 days since Ulster said they would announcing a signing "in the next week".

We all know it's Donald, just announce it already.
