Think there was a stat given on Off The Ball last night, Ireland have won one of the last 20 games in Paris. And professional pundits are tipping us to go there and win :uhoh:
Yeah surprised at Shaggy.. I suppose he's still too close to the squad to be completely objective, he was good otherwise I thought (good for ATH that is)

Havent seen anyone say anything other that Ryan starting. Debate is about bench cover- DOC v Touhy. Touhy didnt really deliver against the saxons, and DOC played himself back into contention against the saints. Take your pick. Im in the DOC camp, but wouldnt be upset either way.
well recognised as our stand out forward that night

It seems you've chosen a highly appropriate name for yourself.
If you enjoy the prospect of lumbering oafs gaining any form of credit for sitting on benches and contributing absolutely nothing then I can understand where you are coming from.
I thought your comment about BMcL was actually more indicative of your moronic tendencies than the one about DOC. However given what DOC has contributed to Munster and Ireland over the past 10 years your comment about him is f**king stupid as well.
I suppose Brian McLoughlin, a forwards coach, should be credited for allowing a player to take conrrol of his pack mod-season? After that he just became a fat press secretary to announce team sheets. The man couldn't even tell betwen Kidneys training squad and his 6 Nations squad. That sort of ignorance may well land him a punditry job though. Or if he drinks he could take up the pen.

The man played Nigel Brady at loosehead. The man repeatedly played Danielli at 15. Humph will be enjoying a nice drink now to celebrate I'm sure. The board are delighted I'm sure, this had been a while coming. Do not be surprised to see Muller taken on officially into the backroom next season either. Possibly as a transitional assistant coach as well. A long term head coaching prospect I'm told.

As for DOC. Great chap. Great player on his day. Not a hope should he be starting for Ireland this year. He should be in the squad for non rugby reasons, that's it. Too much depth to be kidding ourselves into thinking its still 2009. So he can fudge off.

I think he is far too close to the Team to critcise for example he would not commit to saying that our Attack was pretty woeful during the RWC - only one I found reasonably objective was brendan fanning.
Read a piece in the ST where O'Reilly was making the case for Earls at 13 :(

The Ireland Under-20 team (Sponsored by PwC) has been named today by Head Coach Mike Ruddock for this Friday's opening game in the Under-20 RBS Six Nations Championship against Wales, in Dubarry Park, Athlone.

Ruddock has named an experienced side with seven players from last year's squad included in the starting XV to play Wales.Buccaneers own Daniel Qualter will partner up with Iain Henderson in the second row while fellow Connacht native Aaron Conneely is named in the back row.
Centre JJ Hanarahan makes a return to the side from last year along with Sam Coghlan-Murray who has been named on the wing.
Kieran Marmion will take up the scrum half position and will partner Paddy Jackson who has been named at outhalf. Jackson will also captain this year's side.
Speaking ahead of the opening game Ruddock said "We are all looking forward to the start of the 6 Nations. It is always a tough test against Wales but preparations have been first class and we are confident we have prepared as best as we can and are now looking forward to transferring that training onto the pitch itself."
Ireland U-20 v Wales U-20 (Dubarry Park, Athlone - Friday 3rd February 2012, Kick-off 7.05pm)

15 - Shane Layden (Buccaneers - Connacht)
14 - Barry Daly (UCD - Leinster)
13 - Foster Horan (Lansdowne - Leinster)
12 - JJ Hanrahan (UL Bohemians - Munster)
11 - Sam Coghlan-Murray (UCD - Leinster)
10 - Patrick Jackson (Dungannon - Ulster) Captain
9 - Kieran Marmion (Corinthians - Connacht)
1 - Kyle McCall (Ballynahinch - Ulster)
2 - Niall Scannell (Dolphin - Munster)
3 - Peter Reilly (Lansdowne - Leinster)
4 - Iain Henderson (QUB - Ulster)
5 - Daniel Qualter (Buccaneers - Connacht)
6 - Conor Gilsenan (UCD - Leinster)
7 - Aaron Conneely (Corinthians - Connacht)
8 - Jack Conan (Old Belvedere - Leinster)
Replacements:
16 - Des Merrey (Clontarf - Leinster)
17 - James Rael (Garryowen - Munster)
18 - Jake Cawley (XXX - Leinster)
19 - Tadgh Beirne (Lansdowne - Leinster)
20 - Jordan Coghlan (UCD - Leinster)
21 - Luke McGrath (UCD - Leinster)
22 - Cathal Marsh (Dublin University - Leinster)
23 - Christopher Farrell (Dungannon - Ulster)

Peter Nelson was a cert for FB is he wasn't injured.

Therefore, there would be 4 Ulster players in the 1st XV.

By the way, Connacht only beat Ulster U20s by a couple of points and we where missing our best players like Henderson/Jackson.

Connacht won the grand slam so it would seem a little unjust that they've only 5 in the 22

Layden is a top prospect. Hat trick v Munster in the 20's.

Just looking at inpho.ie. Obviously sometime you can read too much into these things, but.

DOC seems to be in a group of otherwise first choice forwards (i.e. Healy, Ross, Heaslip, SOB, Ferris, POC, there's no hooker evident).

McFadden seems to be running moves with some first choice backs (D'Arcy, Kearney)

Murray did the press conference, possibly not significant.
