Yeah it’s not like he has history of trying to reverse the decision after the final whistle...

Munster update: Niall Scannell out for 4-6 weeks, Tommy O’Donnell to see shoulder specialist -could ‘be out for a long time’ acc to JvG

Billy Holland & Chris Cloete also to miss Munster v Ulster as they follow return to play protocols

I take it you mean Munster v Connacht?

Scannell has had no luck with injuries, gutted for TOD as well.

We'll be fairly light for the Connacht game at openside and lock.

Kleyn and O Shea starting with Fineen Whatshisname on the bench, Oliver is back in full training so he’ll have to start.

Munster's injury list has been terrible this year. Scannell will be a huge loss again. Hopefully he'll make it back for the 6N.

Scannell in a race for the 6n which is a worry when you see the way Cronin and Tracy are throwing at the minute.
If KoB keeps his darts as good as they have been he could be in the wider squad.

Great that Oliver is back, he was in superb form last half of season. Hope he can kick on. Terrible injury for the TOD, though at least JOD looks in good nick and realistically neither are first team starters now that Cloete has arrived.

I'm a huge Scannell fan, but it's clear he wasn't quite right and management were easing him back in. KoB had a bit of an off day against Leinster and when he came on against Ulster, notable given the impeccable throwing he had against Leiecester. We really need to hope Marshall is good for Racing and Castre, adds a good bit more value than the other options at the moment.

I am still not sure if it was KOB or just miscommunication as it the throws were wildly off target. I sure as hell am not rewatching it to find out :x

O'Donnell is 31 in June not sure how many more bad injuries the bloke can recover from. With the new blood coming through in the backrow I just can't see him getting many more Irish caps.

But I'd like to see McCloskey, Gilroy, Leavy, Cooney and James Ryan (if fit) involved at some stage

Hard to argue with that. Tough to pick a backrow sub from VDF, Leavy and Conan. Would love to see a bit of rotation in the loose forwards (be it giving guys with niggles a break or a horses for courses selection).

Some mad shit going on in Dundalk this morning.

18 year old Syrian stabbed a Japanese guy to death then attacked two other Irish people 10 minutes later with and iron bar before being disarmed and apprehended by the Guards.

He's a quality player but can't see him getting into the Munster backrow let alone the Irish one at the moment. Has racked up a lot of injury time, hard to keep coming back.

Anyone have stats on our lineout this season, don't remember cronins throwing being Brian Byrne bad, Herrings throwing for Ulster was shocking prior to AI's but decent during AI's so have faith the Irish lads can sort out their throwing.

My mate is just out of Templemore and started working in Dundalk in the last 2 weeks.
Must check on him.

Cronin is Cronin. He'll be good for the odd poor throw but will generally be fine. It was worse against Connacht but conditions played a part there. Tracy has improved in recent weeks, think our lineout was fairly accurate against Munster?

Scannell is a loss but more if he's needed as a starter rather than a bench player as both Tracy and Cronin bring decent impact from the bench.

Haven't been paying attention to Herring since Nov, did his play regress again?

He played Ireland u18 last year as a u17, so he'd be the most obvious candidate..

I just don't rate Tracey tbh. Herring has been fine and I imagine is still ahead of Tracey in the queue, wouldn't have him ahead of Cronin or Scannell though.

Because we are idiots. Dundalk is nice and close to the border to if he wanted to catch a Ferry into England.

re: the 6n squad ..... and some of the bizarre suggestions doing the rounds here

any talk of Toner being omitted is just fecking laughable

Ross Byrne > Keatley in the event that Carberry is not fit

Earls is not a certainty unless he finds some serious form over the next 3 games

John Ryan has credit in the bank and in any event Porter will be brought in long before Archer gets a call

Cooney now ahead of at least one of Marmion/McGrath

Gilroy is nowhere near the squad ffs .... Healy is a better finisher (for the Italy game) and Larmour/Byrne are better options generally

Scannell is a huge loss, but Cronin/Tracey fit the impact sub profile much better than Herring

Scannell had two overthrows against Ulster. I thought Cronin's darts were good against Connacht, especially given the wind. Any lineouts lost were good work by Dillane more than anything else.

What exactly is bullshit? That Scannell is better than Cronin?
I remember 1 overthrow by Scannell in the Ulster game.

Edit: and that was down to bad communication, looked to me like they wanted to change it up and made a balls of it.

Two overthrows. The bullshit that Cronin's darts have been so appalling of late. He was also MOTM at the weekend lest we forget (had to get that in there ;) )

0 out of 4 against the Irish teams- still hurting, Cronin throwing has been fine recently, no better/worse than scannell, herring etc.
