It needs better players.

There have been some poor buy-ins since the original late noughties Saffer influx (and they were by and large successful). Some of signings (and Piutau comes immediately to mind) seem more driven by marketing needs, than playing ones.

It is hard to label Piutau a waste of money as he’s single handedly won us games this year but I agree money should maybe have been spent else where at the time. We’ve been really unlucky with Coetzee and Deysel as well, the latter has only looked good when he’s not had to do all the tight work

I get the vibe there's a lot of rot all the way through Ulster, you don't go through as many coaches as they have without it.

There has definitely been too many jobs for the boys and keeping players on because they are "nice lads".

But they way people are talking about binning 8 or 9 players... where the hell do we find that many IQ players out of contract.

I felt tired just reading that.
Pro rugby players have ridiculous engines, especially when they're that heavy.

So what he's really saying is that Furlong was seagulling taking a break.......

Leinster forwards don't seagul. They are masters of anticipatory spatial awareness.

It's genetic.

You don’t think he’s handsome enough to be allowed out there?

I wonder if he was panicking as he found himself doing shuttle runs in the midfield, praying that the ball wouldn't come near him as he got more and more tired.
I know I would be.

Asked this on Sunday but is the full Leinster game up anywhere. I've almost grown accostomed to them being available recently but no sign of this one.

Fear of being caught in the wide open spaces.

Jaysus. Shudders.

I suspect it's one of those natural Key Indicators which set rugby players apart from good rugby players. Solid team players apart from lads with a genuine talent.

My shuddering still, even 25 years on, is a clear enough indicator I reckon...

The whole pack put in a huge shift but Furlong, Cronin, VDF and Ryan really stood out for me

I'd be surprised if he didn't. But then I would say that. ;)

Wouldn't be surprised to see Leavy for a bit of extra biff.

The way VDF has played recently I think he has to start, let him run himself into the ground for 50 and then bring on Leavy.

Yeah, I think I'd go with Leavy for his greater physicality, especially against France.

He doesn't get tired. I think it'd be more likely that Conan/Leavy comes on at 6.

The first 6N since 2007 that we won't be starting with Heaslip at 8 ?

Nope. Missed the opener in 2010 or 2011, SOB played 8. Against France too.

I think Leavy's strength over the ball will be a better compliment to POM and Stander.

Listening to the head of Epcr doesn't fill you with confidence that we'll ever see the final here again. Lots of waffle about no easy games too

I suppose it's good that so many teams could still qualify on the last day but if you lose 3 games should be out really. Doesn't lend itself to the narrative once you scratch the surface.
