McCarthy is getting a bit of unfair stick imo. He's not the worst. Not ready for this level at the moment but he's got a serious pass and if he can sort his kicking he'll be an option for Leinster

That kick on the full was f**king brutal though

We're twice as f**ked if Murray gets injured. James Hart looks like a lad that's fell out the back of the pub and onto the Munster team bus.

Even the try he scored the week before last . Five yards out in between two defenders and he still nearly got held up

He doesn’t look like he’ll ever have the conditioning or physicality for professional rugby

Letting him go West was an awful error tbh. He's been the one shining light on that turd of a season Ulster are having

I'd rate him ahead of Marmion too

Nah it was the correct decision at the time. He was well down the order and needed to move to get regular gametime

Ah he'll be grand if he sorts out his kicking and chills the beans a bit. He'll never be able to play like Murray but he could easily be a decent pro in the Aaron Smith mould.

He wasn't great for Leinster when he got gametime. I wouldn't blame them for letting him go.

Cooney has a Heino Cup winners medal after playing about 5 minutes in the final against Ulster IIRC

McCarthy will hopefully get one too ...... after having played a much bigger role this year

McCarthy has huge potential as his u-20 performances showed ...... he captained Carberry and Ringrose during that stint, lest people forget

Only went to Connacht on loan initially so we've only ourselves to blame if it's a poor decision in retrospect. Still, you're never going to be able to hold onto everyone. Nor should you

Yeah not a bad shout. He really just hasn't played enough. We can't expect all the young guns to simply arrive to the manor born a la Ryan. He's got a good pass and is certainly worth persisting with. Although what really are the chances of him playing with Sexton against Italian opposition.

Had a hotel booked in Bordeaux once the Racing win was in the bag (50 quid) but flights to Edinburgh are impossible to get out on the Sunday and very difficult on the Monday. The connectivity of Bordeaux is piss poor, very annoying.

He was. The panicked kick out on the full from the turnover was terrible.
It was the right decision. Their FB was stuck in the ruck and there were acres of space behind. Just executed badly. As I said, it will stand him in good stead.

It was absolutely the correct decision. It wasn't panicked as such. More rushed as he saw the space and wanted to get the ball there before the space was filled. Awful execution.

I thought his passing was fine but he needs the kicking game too.

I was wondering whether that was a plan he was sent onto the field with, give them the ball and let them start from their half ie keeping the ball out of our half as much as possible.

ST holders generally get first dibs, and then they go on general release. There will probably be Scarlets returns as well on offer closer to the match.
