he's a fvcking machine .... I'm still laughing at Alan Quinlan's assertion a few weeks ago that he wont make the RWC squad

cant argue with anything in that squad line up ..... except perhaps for Tomane - who needs to start showing something

quick question, did michaels beat cbc last weekend?

Yep ..... but had hardly any ball in the second half and only squeaked home as a result of great defense

CBC openside, 10 and full back were excellent I thought

No way is VDF's place in the WC squad secure, therefore I don't see why you'd laugh at anyone leaving him out.

If the squad was being picked today, would you omit JVDF?

I'm really not sure why the answer to that question is relevant. SOB is only just back from make or break surgery while Leavy is getting up to speed. The fact that VDF has a quicker recovery rate than the other two is hardly relevant to our best squad at the WC. At their best VDF is third choice 7 and without extra versatility might lose out.

For the record, I'm not saying Leavy or SOB are any more likely to make it. This season will sort all that out.

About his level now. Wasn't he involved with coaching Malone last season? I'd assume them.

It'll be Fitz and Statto telling anyone who'll listen that Joe is a poor coach.

LM

I thought I pretty much implied my answer (of course VDF would be frontrunner because he looks the most match fit, which is why I called for him to start tonight too) but it's not the point. He's laughing at someone predicting VDF will miss out in a year. I'm not saying he's wrong to predict VDF will go, just that the backrow is so tight that we'll be leaving a couple of class players at home. No one can predict who yet.

No match threads for the other provinces? I know Leinster are the one you'll all be watching but you should at least pretend to make the effort lads.

Can you blame the Ulster lads spending all their time talking about A teams and the some lad on the Campbell U15s who is going to save them in 5 years.

Getting excited that a lad in the sub academy who might be better than our second choice scrumhalf has finally got a start in AIL 1B.

He has the full package if a little on the small side.

Only got to see Ulster V Connacht last night.

Brace had a fine game as ref and made all the correct big calls. Unfortunate that many went against Ulster but thems the breaks. Best has put on a few pounds over the summer but still looked decent. Henderson didn't look like he was bothered. Cooney tried his guts out but he has no pack in front of him.

Connacht look like they will be a playoff team this year. Carty's kicking game is impressive and they have a bit of dog in the pack. Squad depth is their biggest issue.

Sure it makes no difference either way, he’ll not get a game behind ToT, Kane, Moore (if the chubber could ever get himself fit) and Herbst. And he’s probably on a 6-figure salary knowing Bryn’s pedigree for being about as useful as a chocolate fireguard in the transfer market.

Deccie Fitz was twice the player Rodney is, half the chocolate tea pot, which I assume is better.

Deccie Fitz was as robust as a chocolate hammer, unfortunately. That game that never was was incredible from him.

Goggin will have certainly have earned his spot. He's massively improved this season and would be a decent shot for the form Irish centre in recent weeks.

If Goggin and Scannell start, it would have to be one of the first time in years that Munster have a home-grown centre pairing starting in Europe.

That was a doozy alright

In fairness goggin looks decent, but he’s behind Tom Farrell, Chris Farrell, henshaw, ringrose, ROL, aki, mccloskey, scannell and others in the Irish pecking order

Are channel 4 showing heineken cup matches now as well?

What permutation of subscriptions do I need this week to watch various games involving Irish teams?

He's certainly a mile down the pecking order. That doesn't mean that he hasn't put in a couple of very/surprisingly impressive performances over the last few weeks.
