Pycelle's long dead already, you mean Qyburn. ;)

Er.... I meant an undead pycell hands her the dwarf, then eats them both. :D

HBO is moving forward with Who Fears Death, an upcoming drama series in development that will be executive produced by author George R.R. Martin of Game of Thrones fame and former HBO President Michael Lombard. It was announced a couple of months ago that HBO was in the early stages of developing Who Fears Death with Martin, now we can confirm that HBO has sealed the deal and the series will be moving forward.

The series is based off the sci-fi/fantasy novel by Nnedi Okorafo, which was published in 2010 by DAW. The novel is set in a post-apocalyptic future version of Sudan, North Africa, where the light-skinned Nuru oppress the dark-skinned Okeke leading to a society divided by tone of skin. The protagonist, Onyesonwu, is the child of an Okeke woman who was sexually assaulted by a Nuru man and must go on a quest to defeat her sorcerer father using her magical powers when she reaches maturity while fighting to master the powers growing inside of her.

Plus he's involved with night flyers.

Here’s where everyone important was at the end of book five, A Dance with Dragons.

Jon Snow: stabbed loads of times by his own men at the Black Keep, left for dead.
Sansa Stark: in the Vale, undercover as Alayne Stone with her sort-of ally, Littlefinger, who’s posing as her father.
Arya Stark: still training with the Faceless Men in Braavos.
Bran Stark: north of the Wall. He’s just learned ‘greenseeing’ with his teacher, Bloodraven.
Rickon Stark: said to be in hiding on the island of Skagos, whose inhabitants are rumoured cannibals.
Daenerys Targaryen: stuck in the Dothraki Sea, surrounded by Dothraki warriors.
The Hound: left for dead by Arya.
The Mountain: remains something of a mystery. His skull was supposedly delivered to Doran Martell in Dorne as recompense for the death of Oberyn Martell. But a new knight on the Kingsguard, presumed a product of Maester Qyburn’s experiments, is eerily similar to The Mountain. Ser Robert Strong never takes off his helmet, never eats, never uses the ‘privy’ and has supposedly taken a holy vow of silence until Cersei’s innocence is proven.
Cersei Lannister: has just completed the walk of shame.
Cersei Lannister completes the Walk of Shame in Game of Thrones, the TV adaptation of A Song of Ice and FireHBO

Tyrion Lannister: now a member of the Second Sons, waiting outside Meereen for everything to kick off.
Lady Stoneheart: in the Riverlands. She’s just tasked Brienne of Tarth with bringing Jaime to her.
Jaime Lannister: being led to find ‘Sansa’ by Brienne of Tarth; possibly heading to his death at the hands of Lady Stoneheart.
Stannis Baratheon: in an encampment near Winterfell, planning the battle with the Boltons. The Freys and the Manderlys, under the command of Roose Bolton, are marching on his position.
Theon Greyjoy: Stannis’ prisoner, awaiting execution. He has just helped Mance Rayder and his spearwives rescue Jeyne Poole (posing as Arya Stark) from Winterfell.
Roose Bolton: at Winterfell.
Ramsay Snow: also at Winterfell. Has just sent Jon Snow a letter claiming to have defeated Stannis and Mance Rayder, and asking for him to turn over Jeyne Poole, Selyse, Shireen, Melisandre, Val, Gilly’s son and Reek. He claims he will attack Jon at the Wall if he does not get what he wants.
Victarion Greyjoy: entering Slaver’s Bay to help Daenerys fight Yunkai.
Samwell Tarly: has arrived in Oldtown to train as a Maester.
Jon Connington: is moving to capture Storm’s End with his ward, purported to be Daenerys’ nephew Aegon Targaryen.
Davos Seaworth: has been told to retrieve Rickon Stark from Skagos by the Manderlys.
Varys: in King’s Landing, having just shot Kevan Lannister because he was doing too good a job of undoing Cersei’s failures.
Margaery Tyrell: in King’s Landing. She’s just been released into her father’s custody and awaits trial by judges for the accusations made by Cersei.
Loras Tyrell: dying of wounds sustained while trying to retake Dragonstone at Cersei’s command.

Never read the books but it seems it would have a different (more interesting) ending to the show.

"Brienne" and "Arya" in pre-season 7 training for their sparring at Winterfell. I know it's only a rubber knife but that's pretty cool.

Very posh indeed. He is descended from the bloke who invented the flush toilet though, so it's to be expected.

He occasionally drinks in my local and whilst he's taller than me, it's not by that much.

ah that's not too bad then, you are not that short despite my gags - its just your massive Hookers build that accentuates the width over height thing. you prob nearer to average height than I am

Apparently they can both trace their ancestry to Charles II. Jon just loves family!

Noice.

On a different-ish note: HBO's Rome truly was outstanding. Even the absurd embellishment of Vorenus and Pullo's characters (interestingly, very loosely based on a couple of real soldiers of Caesar's) was still very feasible, very natural and so well written that by the end you end up feeling like it wasn't really just a story.

Now they're all cashed up, they should go back to it and pick up where they left Octavian. OOoh....or skip through to the Julio Claudians. Agrippina and Nero could be epic TV roles, with plenty of room for a Pycelle-like Claudius. Playing the fool and surviving by flying under the radar.

Tits and arse obviously abound without shame or lack of realism, plenty of room for blood and guts, and the political intrigue and games would be top notch.

Anyone else on board? Choo choo!

TBF the ship has sailed on doing Rome properly - it was supposed to be 4 seasons long. When it was chopped to just 2 it stopped making as much sense (why does Octavian get older over the 15 years and no one else does?) and became a rushed job.

I'd love the to do Rome, basically with the same cast, and do it properly, one season Caesar's civil war to become dictator for life, season 2 Caesar's assassination and immediate aftermath, season 3 Octavian and Anthony vs the assassins, season 4 the breakdown of the second Triumvirate, Octavian becomes Augustus. But it won't ever happen.

If they ever made another Roman series they should just make Coleen McCullogh's Masters of Rome series and start with Marius.

I thought the delay was due to the amount of CGI that's needed to be done.

It was only a bit of it IIRC, and I don't think it really affected filming. Not sure what's left at Cinecitta now.

Well, I meant that the set was destroyed, so it would be hard to go back and film more as it would be prohibitively expensive to do stuff from scratch. I'm aware that the show was cancelled well before then.

Couldn't be that expensive to build a few houses ffs, especially after making seriosu coin on GOT. When they canned it, sure, things might have been tight, but they certainly aren't now.

Lets start a petition for HBO to do one on the Julio Claudians!

Having done a bit more reading it seems you're right - at least part of the set was lost which annoyed Cinecitta as they wanted to use it for other projects. They do still have a sizeable roman set though. Crash is right that the Masters of Rome books would make a brilliant show, but it'd be about ten series long as it covers nearly a century of Roman history IIRC.

Another one i'd love to see is Iggulden's Genghis Khan series. Just adapt it as it was written, the storyline is already so damn good.

TBH one that covers Marius and Sulla would be enough but hugely expensive because of all the battles, they'd have to cover the Jugurthine War, the German invasions, the Social Wars, the Mithradatic War and Sulla's civil war. That's only about 30 years but it would be action packed.

Since I'm rereading them at the moment I was thinking that the books would actually be fairly easy to simplify into something coherent because a lot of the politics can be chopped down a bit from the detail she gives, but even the first book would have to be 2 seasons long. It'd still be fucking ace though.

Sulla would be a great character, mix of Omar and Avon Barksdale.
