I have some spare lube if you guys need it (turns out I didn't need it last night as the Canes decided not to play)

We are almost at the end of Super season - Round 19 IIRC. We will not need lube ...

I wonder why our top order thinks its wise to either:

a) just stick your front foot as far down the centre of the pitch and try play a spinning ball around your pad, or
b) if all fails, waltz down the pitch and try to smoke the turning ball out of Galle

Pathetic batting by our men, they will need to regroup fast to make it 1-1

Rabada departs without bothering the scoters.

Have to say that the umpires have been pretty ordinary.

Plenty of decisions overturned (would have been more if Faf could use the DRS) and the missed no-ball on which Elgar was dismissed.

Shameful

I don't know. They prepare a pitch that makes the side batting first guaranteed to win and they never lose the toss.

I hope Faf made a point of having a look at the coin.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/24095555/big-fan-taking-away-toss-faf-du-plessis

Quote:
Du Plessis' request to can the toss also comes amid teams finding ever more creative and intensive means with which to disadvantage an opposition. There have been several complaints in recent years that the pitches produced for practice matches the visiting teams play ahead of a series have been too dissimilar to the tracks encountered in the actual Tests. Du Plessis suggested the same had occurred in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, and even hinted that South Africa should do the same.

"We played a warm-up game in Colombo which was on a flat wicket - it didn't spin. So you have to give credit to Sri Lanka for doing that well. That's some learning in that to take when we're playing in South Africa. The nets that we've been playing in haven't been spinning at all. So we could have even come a month earlier but if you're practicing on facilities that don't spin, you're not going to get what you get out there [in the Tests]."

Mahahraj getting a helluva lot of turn.

Herath is going to be unplayable in the last dig. I think the 79 we got in the second innings won't even be challenged.

I'm a bit surprised they left Big Vern out; they should have kept him in the side for his batting alone. Maybe he's injured?

No

I hope Hugh Tayfield can make the most of the dry surface. I think we could have too much pace for them with Clive Rice and Peter Pollock though, so odds are on the Union Of South Africa to take this one

He should go back to the Boer War POWs in Ceylon, 1901-1904.

I don't think you quite understand the point Nipper is making.

Interesting interpretation by the TMO.

If a batsman, in making his ground deflects a direct hit so that the ball misses, is he out? I would have thought that he was, regardless of whether the intention of the batsman was to interfere with the throw or not.

Apparently not.
