 Yes! Something positive!

The sequel is out soon, pray to whatever deity is listening that it's a worthy continuance.

I'm going to go all Floppykid and KidA on this one - Sicario is hugely overrated.

Good film, but not the masterpiece it's claimed to be.

+1

The only great Villeneuve film is Incendies...

Arrival, Sicario and Enemy were decent.
Prisoners was claptrap and Blade Runner was beautiful but dull.

Well I thought it was the dogs bollocks.
Fantastic performances, relentless plot, pacing and directing. The set pieces are something else.

Just a thriller without an ounce of fat on it.

Watched the trailers, doesn't look like it will be.
There's a "Save the Daughter" plot there that just seems poor enough.

Also, no Deakins or Villeneuve is a big deal.

Spoiler: show
That tunnel scene and its entire night vision run up was so intense.
Almost otherworldly the way it was shot.
The ending was brutal.

Yeah, proper heart of darkness stuff.

Incendies is clearly his best but the ones you mention are all up there. Prisoners = claptrap???? You have high standards. If anybody hasn't seen 'Polytechnique' I'd urge them to. Next to 'Elephant' it's one of the most realistic, terrifying portrayals of school shootings I've seen.

Yeah maybe a bit harsh on 'Prisoners' but I expected a lot more.

It was too long and the script wasn't great. Plus Jackman seemed out of his depth...

While I thought Gyllenhaal stole the show in it, I thought Jackman was pretty good.

Re-watched The Prestige the other day, still an amazing movie with little hints to the ending throughout the movie.

I watched Source Code for the first time last night, unsure why I hadn't seen it already. It might be because it has that girl who looks like Michael Jackson in it. I have a weird thing where I fnd it hard to watch movies with actors I really don't like (e.g. Nicole Kidman, Clive Owen, Gerard Butler).

I really enjoyed it, fairly interesting premise and decent performances and the Michael Jackson girl didn't annoy me.

What was annoying is that Netfilx only appeared to have a 720p version - I felt like I was watching a videotape.

Looking forward to the sequel about the "Perestroika" years. Who will play Gorby?

Deadpool 2 is good fun. Hilarious, violent, and so overstuffed with references it probably needs a few viewings. Actual comedies don’t make it to the cinema much anymore so it’s a good thing comic book movies like this and Thor Ragnarok are getting made.

Yeah.Rapid fire references is right.
Some of the songs they use are quite funny as well.
Wonder how much Brad Pitt got paid for his “blink and you’ll miss it” cameo?

Colour me surprised.

I'm going to go all Unclefb here and write off anything the least bit thought provoking as KidA/Floppykid.

Saw it in the cinema when it came out and it was heavy enough. The closing scene, while a bit cliched, was brilliant.

So I've gone on a Villeneve binge recently after watching Bladerunner and seeing Incendies mentioned here. That film was a masterpiece. Just brilliant.

Saw Sicario also which was good but not on the level of Incendies. Great ending though, bleak as fudge.

Also rewatched arrival which I also really enjoyed the second time round.

Will check out Polytechnique next.

Finally saw Infinity War. Pretty good. Didn't enjoy it as much as Thor: Ragnarok or Captain America: Civil War which are my two favorites of the MCU. Even though they did a good job piecing it together there is just too much going on to really get into it.

Watched You Were Never Really Here last night.

Phew, brilliant thriller. I recommend it to everyone.
Pheonix is brilliant, the cinematography is brilliant, soundtrack is brilliant etc. etc. you get the idea.

Like all my favourite thriller movies its utterly vicious in pace/plot.

Gonna have to watch Ramsay's back catalog now.

Also saw Deadpool 2 the night before, utterly unremarkable and more of the same.
The Shtick got old real fast, I should've known better than to bother with it.

I'm not sure how the trailer makes it look, but it'snot a popcorn kind've action movie.
Very much wears its Taxi Driver inspiration on its sleeve.

The title of "You were never really here" made me think it was a sequel to "I'm not here".Some fcuking coincidence that it's not if you ask me

They did a pretty good job of it though. I agree it's not a perfect movie but with all of the moving parts and characters it could have been a giant mess.

Great find that, thanks.

Criterion is great for samurai movies and film noir in particular.

Saw Solo today

A cracking adventure and plenty of Easter Eggs for Star Wars fans.

Clever twisty story that works in a key element of the Prequels and other cannon like The Clone Wars and Rebels.

Worth the price of entry to see the Kessel Run alone.
