Has anyone seen Jurassic Word yet? I'm wondering just how shit it'll be.
I'll still watch it, of course.

It's your typical Hollywood franchise blockbuster. It was alright but nothing that you haven't seen before. Plot wise it was quite similar to the 2015 Jurassic World. It does have Toby Jones in it though, which was nice.

EDIT: also Jurassic Word made me think of Jurassic 5. So that's good.

It has Goldblum repeating his "Life finds a way" speech, doesn't it?

Differently worded I think but the sentiment is the same.

I heard it turns into a haunted house movie about midway through, and it's high in the gothic horror stakes which sounds interesting.

I watched A Han Solo Story recently. Great auld film, basically a classic sci fi adventure/heist caper. Very enjoyable. Why is Emilia Clarke in everything these days though?

I saw it last weekend and I agree with every point you just made.

Why have Disney put the Star Wards stories on hold? Solo not do as well as they'd hoped?

Saw Incredibles 2 over the weekend with my kids. Enjoyed it a lot, although not as good as the original, and plot was a bit by the numbers.

It has a wiff of Nosferatu about the second half but not a massive amount. J. A. Bayona is very good at blending special effects and story and I thought he did better with The Impossible and A Monster Calls. Though if you enjoyed Solo you'll enjoy Jurassic World.

Some of the reviews for that are hilarious. I'm looking forward to watching it, if just for the lulz.

It’s a complete mess. Travolta at times appears to be taking the piss. They really blew what could have been a great film.

Although seemingly unpopular with a lot of my mates, I have always enjoyed the - The Trip movies with Coogan and Brydon.

After Trips to the UK, Italy and Spain, Sky has long hankered after a Trip to the US – but Brydon and Coogan are reportedly less keen on that. The smart money is on a Trip… to Ireland in 2019.

They could literally do this for another couple of decades. I hope so.

US, Canada, Japan, Oz, NZ, ..... but I would prefer they keep to a European theme, so Germany, Greece, Austria, Scotland, Croatia, Sweden ....

I doubt they would want to hit countries with a little less security or poverty like Mexico or India either.

Even the most liberally tempered expectations cannot explain the extent and scope of the disaster here, the sheer lack of basic cinematic competence.

Will wait for it to come on Netflix before I watch it.

Thought Jurassic Park was great. The Lost World was 'meh.' Jurassic Park 3 was in the "so bad it's good" category. The fourth one I thought was awful/boring.

I missed the whole Jurassic Park train and never bothered with any of them till Jurassic world, which was decidedly average.
I find Jeff Goldblum less charming then I do irritating in a movie, so his inclusion in the new one doesn't entice me.
I'll give it a miss, even on Netflix.

Yeah, that's what I meant - like True Romance, written by QT but directed by someone else. And, to be honest, neither Tony Scott nor RR are amazing directors but perhaps a Tarantino script will sometimes be better in the hands of a more conventional director.
Ah right, I thought you were meaning directing.

As you may have guessed from above I like QT directed films but in saying that the version we have of True Romance is awesome and I'm not sure QT could have done a better job. So, I guess, yeah I agree sometimes they might be better directed by someone else. :D
True Romance is awesome.

We now agree on something and you can die happy.
Something moody by Radiohead for the funeral.

Great. I have been waiting for this for some time. I head into JUarez every few months so proably not a good thing to watch pre-trip.

I was very trepidatious about, the reviews tend be overall positive, but saying it lacks a lot of what made the first one a special movie.
Which is kind've what makes Sicario such a brilliant action movie.

I'll still watch Sicario 2 mind.

Saw it a few days ago, if you want to “use” it to feel disturbingly unsettled in the first half and then laughing (but still unsettled) at the carnage in the last half then go ahead.

Definitely not a typical multiplex jump scare horror, more supernatural and mythological. Still shit myself though

Good stuff.
I've been hearing mixed things, some consider it "boring", but these are the same people who couldn't get into The Witch, which is one of my favourite films.

Possibly only boring to those expecting a jolt every few seconds, this one is very much about atmosphere and dysfunctional family dynamics - which of course does sound boring when you put it like that

Very much in the mould of The Witch, minus the arcane dialogue, so you should like it. Toni Collette is brilliant in it, proper gonzo by the end

You don't have to try so hard for the movie snob crown anymore - Kid A is too busy making anti-AB gifs and Floppykid has caught himself in a conundrum/loop of whether or not he can like Sicario 2 even though its not directed by Denis Villeneuve. The crown is yours!
