I think it's on limited release, but it's really stunning.
I'm a bit over these continual star wars spin offs.

Hard pass
Different film. The Han Solo movie is simply titled Solo.

I know you're all taking the piss, but it's a film about Alex Honnold a free climber.
Really well shot, well crafted documentary.
Very easy to watch.

There's another one made by the same filmmaker called Meru, which is about Ice Climbing. (the guy also partook in that climb.)
Visually stunning movies with great pace to them.

Have you actually seen the rest?

Halloween - classic

Halloween II - more of the night he came back, do they actually have patients and staff at that hospital beyond the few we see?

Halloween III - Don't even want to think about the lack of logic

Halloween IV - V - IV was okay and then they frack it up in V.

Halloween VI - uhmmm so the Producer's cut is meant to explain all those disjointed scenes right?

H2O - Thank God

Halloween Resurrection - dear god in heaven baby Jesus slaughters at least three kittens every time some one watches this one.

Rob Zombie's remake and sequel, please shot the franchise in the head, surely it can't get any worse than this rubbish

Halloween 2018, guess I was wrong about it getting worse.

I'd seen 1-3 (though the latter just once when I was 14), most of V, Resurrection and the first Rob Zombie one. H20 comes out better against the second half of that list, but it was still not a good film by any stretch of the imagination.

Gladiator 2 in the works from Ridley Scott

British film-maker will reportedly follow up 2000 Oscar winner with sequel that follows the son of Connie Nielsen’s character

Ridley Scott has begun to develop a sequel to Gladiator.

According to Deadline, the director is set to take on the project for Paramount with a script to be written by Peter Craig, whose credits include The Town and the forthcoming sequel Top Gun: Maverick.
Orson Welles' jungle book, Bilbo on mushrooms: the great unmade movies

The story will reportedly focus on Lucius, the son of Lucilla, played by Connie Nielsen in the 2000 original. Lucius was also the nephew of Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who killed Russell Crowe’s Maximus at the end of the film.

After Gladiator made $460m worldwide and won five Oscars, including best picture, talk of a sequel has come up in the years since. Nick Cave took it upon himself to write his own take that would have brought back Maximus from the dead via the body of a slain Christian martyr.

“[Crowe] rang me up and asked if I wanted to write Gladiator 2,” Cave said to Marc Maron in 2013. “For someone who had only written one film script, it was quite an ask. ‘Hey Russell, didn’t you die in Gladiator?’ ‘Yeah, you sort that out.’”

Last year, Scott said the script was “on the shelf”.

After 2012’s Prometheus, Scott made his second prequel to Alien last year before telling the story of the Getty kidnapping in All the Money in the World. He is currently directing his first TV series, Raised by Wolves, a sci-fi tale of androids raising human children. He is also attached to a drama about the life of photojournalist Lyndsey Addario, played by Scarlett Johansson.

It's a bit of a wanky list. Some classic movies there but hardly any modern ones.

Perfect mixture of historical violence, epic battles, nudity, zero to hero, strong personalities etc. Would be good if given 10 hours to fully develop and tell the story.

Have you seen the Directors cut of the film? It adds considerable context to the film and fleshes out the characters.

It's the only version I've seen!

Didn't realise it at the time and wondered why people hated on the movie so much. I really enjoyed it. I then discussed it with a friend and realised that entire subplots were cut from the theatrical release.
IIRC, the entire arc about Eva Greene's kid having leprosy was Director's Cut only.

I'll make sure to be more accurate with historical details when I write my Canadian version, about how our current capital got a complete cleanup and re-branding after Irish and Scots and French gangs went at it and ruled the town during the mid-1800s.

I'm a fan of some musicals and not a fan of others. Definitely not a fan of La La Land though, the opening number is so wooden and the rest is watchable if overrated. I'm not sure how much of that was a reaction to the hype though, so many people told me how great it was and I'm a big fan of Whiplash, so maybe it was always doomed for me.

I'm a couple of years behind, but Netflix just added a bunch of 'Christmas' films and thought I'd give Office Christmas Party a go because I was in the mood for something stupid to play in the background while surfing. I ended up putting down the ipad and was pulled in by it.

It's a 'bad' film, but it was reasonably straightforward with good characters and not as offensive (in both lame jokes and with crudeness) as I expected it to be. I laughed quite a few times.

Also, I'm not sure if I've ever been as turned on by Jennifer Aniston as I was when she started krav maga-ing some Russian baddies.

I don't remember much about that film but I remember it being throwaway fun (and I don't have a problem with throwaway fun, not every movie needs to be high art) and having a hot Olivia Munn in it.

I also watched Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. When I first saw the trailer, probably last year, I thought it looked cheesy. Now on Netflix, I thought I'd give it a go. The main actor wasn't great, but it was an interesting film that didn't sugar coat or glorify the war in Iraq, nor did I feel it was an outright anti-war film as well.

A young soldier and his unit are branded heroes from footage of a firefight in Iraq captured by an embed's camera. They are going to be part of an NFL halftime show while home on leave. Our lead thinks back over his time there while dealing with home problems and this media event and the prospect of having to go back, but while also faced with an 'out'.

Negative reviews seem to focus on the filming (same as how Hobbit was filmed?), which isn't an issue on Netflix. It's a simple story, mostly a drama, with a few bits of action / tension, and I liked the balance. I thought Lone Survivor was over-done, didn't care for the lead in American Sniper, didn't mind the one about the Libyan standoff, and after seeing one documentary featuring a unit (Korengal, maybe?), feel like I'd seen them all so this was refreshing new (to me anyway) within the genre.

Oh, one piece of crap to avoid is the Canadian film Hyena Road. Paul Gross needs to stop making hokey, cliche-ridden and unrealistic Canadian war films.

If you include Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wizard of Oz and The Rocky Horror Picture Show not to mention the Buffy episode Once More with Feeling, then yes. And Guys and Dolls as well as Singing in the Rain.

In all of those the songs grab you, set your foot tapping and advance the story. They didn't really do any of those things in the first half hour of LaLa.

But other posters have said it gets better so I might give it another go.

I saw the new Harry Potter film over the weekend. Drivel. Disjointed nonsense.
It's like they had a very loose outline for the story and then started filming before they'd actually finished it. There are times when several minutes are spent on special effects with weird creatures of magic battles with fire monsters, involving characters that it's very hard to care about.
Somehow Grindlewald can see the future. Eh, what? Surely that needs a bit more exploration? Nope, here's some CGI explosions.

Some moments of humour, but it tried to be too serious with heavy plot about finding some guy's true identity. Yawn.

I know it's a Harry Potter spin-off, so it's likely to be poor enough, but it was properly crap.
Also, young Dumbledore was gay for Grindlewald. Not sure what that added to anything, other than a ham-fisted means by which Dubmbledore couldn't get involved in stopping the baddie. Hence, a magical zoologist having to help defeat the most dangerous person in the world.

The opening number is awful but it has basically nothing in common with the rest of the film. I was tempted to walk out of the cinema after the first few minutes but was glad I didn’t. And Emma Stone something about that lady

I kind of enjoyed it. My bug bear is Eddie Redmaynes constant looking down confused shtick.

Occasional laughs - but it feels much more like a money generating exercise than a story that needs to be told. Considering how involved her characters are in HP - it is odd that you really don't care so much about these ones.
