I went to a halloween party this year in west Kerry plenty of those younger than me were on mushrooms or E. Eventually the music got better, one poor guy became nominated dj via his iphone. He put this on then flicked on to the next track after 2 bars.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fki4TySQqc0

He soon switched back as to my shame I ran up and told him that if he didnt I would cut his head off, not my finest moment, but worth it. Great album, all the videos are great too

This thread has me revisiting all sorts.

from the wizard himself - Jeff Mills (still the ultimate, live at the liquid rooms, still blows me away, my most listened to album)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KevUFO2moZI

Dave Clark Red 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB5h5Z8peDs

Green velvet - so many mixes, but danny Tenaglia the best one

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY3Zngfk80o

now to go back a bit more, a bit of house:

Lil louis, who recorded his girlfriends orgasm

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y8w2W1uy2A

A Yank who was there at the height of rave - Moby

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o72NpKj0nxw

Jamie principle - i need your love, the original, original. The Frankie knuckles version also rocks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kup0BdoLzbg

still the best ever electronic/dance/techno/house track - Derrick May, rhythm is rhythm = strings of life. 1987 yet still sounds fresh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GnFvdaEl2Q

and to chill it all out - future sound of london - Papua new guinea

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAvHjoLxxh8

and chime..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXU5Rxc3vBQ

and its time I stopped before I pull an all nighter on you tube

Great choices ^^^

I'm currently pushing my way through some of John Digweed's "Live In..." sets.

Unbelievable techno. The ending to his mammoth Montreal set is some of the best music I've ever heard.

I suppose some would call it more progressive house, if you also consider that techno can also cover the likes of Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills and Nick Warren. But I try not get involved in the debate about labels, and just enjoy the music.

I only really listen to full sets these days, that's where the real talent of a DJ comes out.

You are right, it's all about the music, not the label.

Acid trance, was that a thing? Remember a lot of liberator djs and Dave the drummer, i remember rediscovering them many years after first hearing them when I moved to hackney.

https://youtu.be/dtQcoej6lJg

Funny bit was that just before hearing this track for the first time I did walk from homerton to hackney Wick in search of a free party which I found, but I was old/wise enough not to have the full list of inebriators described in the track, just 2 cans of beer for me that night.

This could be classed as comedy dance music based on the lyrics..

 great lyrics

My only dabble in trance was Paul van Dyk and Tiesto. This was when they played that mind-blowing euphoric trance, rather than the stuff they do now (everything seems to have a female singing a love song in it).

Went to a couple of psytrance parties in London which was good fun, but at the risk of sounding old I find it hard to differentiate one psytrance track from the other, it all sounds the same to me.

Yeh psytrance was very repetitive, I often found the same with drum n bass nights, after 20 minutes I would be thinking, it's a good track but it's only 1 track.

Look for videos on YouTube of any stuff by Noom Records for some acid trance, e.g.

TRES CHIC

Pump up the volume: interesting explorations in the start of house, techno and the explosion of acid house

Underground Resistance mix - still relevant, but they may have mellowed their outlook. Mixing in a bit of aretha and at 1.30 there is a great guitar lick
