That was the very small one situated right under the mountain. I should have said "new" kai tak, because it replaced the old one. It opened early because a plane crashed on the old one. However last time I was there it was the brand new Chep Lap Kok - very impressive.
Hadn't realised there was 2 versions. So the reclaimed runway was only built in the 1950's? Agree Chep Lap Kok is very impressive, its all reclaimed. Fabulous view over the whole airfield from the cable car up to Ngong Ping too.
