that dead celebs earnings thing - can someone explain Albert Einstein, Betty Page and James 'did 4 films' Dean's earnings please ?
musicians, artists, authors I can get - did Einstein invent a graphics card or the final salary pension scheme or something ?

On the Bezos thing above. It's amazing how cheap a National Newspaper is compared to the tech compnaies he's bought. Whilst that probably makes total sense in terms of profit and actual financial cost of the business, the potential influence it has seems remarkably cheap. Compared to a door bell company, for instance.

I think the evidence is that the most cost effective way to get influence is to cut out the middleman. Just buy the politicians directly. He will make money off some of those tech investments. Newspapers, not so likely.
