Love the older lady's look in this ...

(wouldn't be surprised if the man was staged, though)

Is she famous? Otherwise just looks like a lady in a conservative looking dress.

Not sure. Says she's a fashion model called Doris Erwin, for a Look magazine shoot. I like the looks, but accept that at least one (and there's another angle with two more men), could be staged. She's probably a bit flashy for the time, but if people weren't looking because she was obviously being filmed, then she was sachaying something fierce.

These have a little more going on in it. :D

In some aspects that might be true (VTOL against stovl) but in most the jsf is a massive upgrade.

Over a plane designed in the 60's yes

but then that is a lofty goal for the ridiculous expense

trouble is it flies like an anvil....

Are the Harriers now made in America and bought by us at enormous expense?

Mostly. The f136 engine was cancelled which was the ge RR alternative (with greater potential thrust growth) than the f135. The lift fan system on the f35-b has UK bits and input and bae have a share in f35 components as well.

I'm always bemused by the stick that the f22 and f35 get about their dog fighting/flying like an anvil when the whole point is it shouldn't end up in that situation.

The stick is mostly for the cost blowout and lack of payload for the F-35.

The new doctrine is F18 Superhornets to tote 12 AMRAAMs as missile trucks but directed by the (hidden) F-35s.

BTW, a mate of mine is flying this:

He raves about it's performance - but then, he gets paid to fly it every other day :frown:

Is dogfighting even a significant part of the doctrine of modern air forces? Most engagements should be beyond visible range given the technology that available compared to the 70s/80s Top Gun stuff.

Plus, how likely is it that two equally well equipped air forces are going to come into direct conflict? Everything seems to be assymetric these days.

Plenty of gunfighters still left in the decision area who remember 'Nam and the lack of cannon on the first Phantoms.

Hence why the F35 and F22 still have cannon installed.
