Triple-murder accused Henri van Breda and his girlfriend Daniellé Janse Van Rensburg were arrested earlier this week for drug possession, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed.

This information came to light hours after Henri appeared in Western Cape High Court on Friday, 9 September, for the murder of three of his family members.

The spokesperson for the National Prosecution Agency (NPA), Eric Ntabazalila, confirmed both the accused appeared in Cape Town’s magistrate court on charges of the possession of drugs.

Eric could not confirm what type of drugs were found in the couple’s possession.

“The police kept both of them overnight in the holding cells,” Eric told YOU.

After their appearance in court both were released on bail — R1 000 for Henri and R200 for Daniellé.

The case has been postponed to 12 October for further investigation.

The couple met earlier this year when both of them studied at a chefs’ school in Woodstock, Cape Town.

Since then they appear to be very much in love, judging by photographs Daniellé has shared on her Facebook page.

Henri is facing three charges of murder. The State claims he murdered his father, Martin (54), his mother, Teresa (56), and his brother, Rudi (22), on the evening of 26 January 2015 in their home on the De Zalze golf estate near Stellenbosch with an axe.

He is also charged with attacking his sister, Marli (17), on the same evening with an axe or a similar sharp object. She survived the attack.

Henri was released on bail of R100 000 on 14 June this year.

The state has requested judge Elize Steyn to postpone the hearing until 18 November for forensic DNA reports to be finalized.

Henri will remain on bail until the pre-trial that will continue on 18 November.

The official hearing will start on 6 February 2017.

He will be an extremely rich little fudge. He'll be able to buy most of what he wants.

Except freedom.

His sister is still alive. I'm sure a good lawyer can help her contest the will and strip him of his inheritance. By the way is there any news of her recovery?

Ja sure but a lawyer of P Botha's standing can choose his cases. Fucker like this and Diwani should be forced to have the shitest lawyers and not the best money can buy.

This is the same criminal justice system (worldwide) that has criminals living in hotels for jails these days.

The accused should not be prejudiced.

Look at the biblical law proscribing adultery, prescribing the death penalty if caught - a man and a woman must be caught, committing adultery, by two "men of good standing"

Even in today's enlightened age two "good men and true" will struggle to catch an adulterous couple red handed. How the, in those days ? When "goood men and true" were even thinner on the ground ?

The penal system allow for good defence, and a good case, but that should not scupper the State's case IF RESEARCHED, COMPILED AND PRESENTED COMPETENTLY. Which was not the case with Dewani.

Botha will make his money, on this.

MZ - "Die bloedige hand".

The little shit's family will square him away. same as the Qriekwastad killer's family did.

People are strange when it comes to family. But it is not inconceivable that this one based his acts on the Griekwastad murders.

No further interest in this case? A lot has happened since the last post in May.

So apparently he's been diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and most probably had an epileptic seizure the night of the attack.
