Unfortunately the RWC means two non rugby broadcasters in ITV in the UK and TV3 in Ireland get to show the competition. :uhoh:

I hear a rumour that ITV have brought bored favourite John Inverdale to present their coverage. :lol: Gareth Thomas and Brian O'Driscoll to be pundits. Haven't heard anything on commentators. I would have though they'd have looked to announce it coming upto the end of the Six Nations.

TV3's coverage;

TV3 has confirmed it will be the exclusive home of this year’s Rugby World Cup.

All 48 matches will be shown free-to-air across the station when the tournament kicks off in September, it was announced today at a launch from The Merrion Hotel in Dublin.

At the launch rugby coaching guru Matt Williams, ex-Irish international scrum half Peter Stringer and former British and Irish Lions player Stuart Barnes were announced as part of TV3’s team of analysts joining former Irish captain Keith Wood.

They will be joined by soon-to-be retired Leinster flanker Shane Jennings, former Ireland international rugby union player Hugo MacNeill and legendary English World Cup winning flanker Neil Back.

Irish sports commentator Conor McNamara, former Munster academy member Murray Kinsella and rugby analyst Liam Toland join Matt Cooper and TV3’s own Sinead Kissane on the broadcaster’s presentation team.

They're planning on launching in HD for the occasion. Actually looks decent all and all, much better commentary than RTÉ anyway. Annoyed that that spoofer Toland is still getting gigs but it's better than Hook. If Ireland get to the semis I reckon they just might send a crew over from their studio the tight plum.

Sky Sport in New Zealand have the rights so I expect they'll have their usual crew involved.
