I don't think they'll win the comp but it's a refreshing change. We need to develop players who can think for themselves and back their abilities. The talent is clearly there.
Vok I have seen him destroy Paul Roos on Markotter on his own playing for Grey High. Lambaard and a whole bunch of Boishaaiers (most are at the Lions) coming through the ranks. Willemse & Vermeulen from Paul Roos is just phenomenal talents.
Papier is a Malmesbury kid, poached by the Bulls since his schooldays.
They are all players of colour and need to get through our systems. Once they at senior level you'll see a much brigher future for our rugby.
Johan Grobbelaar (nr 2) played goalie with my sons hockey team at Prymary school.
Sacs doing great in WP this year.Put 100 up vs Durbanville & beat Paarl Gym. Heard through the grapevines some coaches at school level earns close to R1 Mil p.a. Kicking coaches R400,000 p.a.sunnybanana wrote: Just a pity us Souties are being increasingly squeezed out of the game in SA.

Every player in the backline was non-white and all there on merit - fantastic to see. Just a pity us Souties are being increasingly squeezed out of the game in SA.

The Baby Boks missed out on the final because the backs had a bad day . Their execution was poor, their decision making was poor and they just didn't gel today. Still, they only lost by 2 points to the 6N champions.handyman wrote:I hate it when rugby people in SA say we have the best young players in the world by far when it is obvious that we don't.
Yep, there are plenty of u19s in the team. Hopefully they will learn from this. However we have to move away from the kicking. There were some game breakers in that backline.Jensrsa wrote:Still, they only lost by 2 points to the 6N champions.
Tough luck to them but to write them off is ludicrous
The kicking wasn't necessarily the issue, the kak kicking was. Had we executed that aspect better it would have resulted in us having to kick less and a win.OomPB wrote:Yep, there are plenty of u19s in the team. Hopefully they will learn from this. Only Libbok? I think all the backs were at fault but Libbok and Bosch were especially poorSards wrote:Agree completely. 10 minutes before the end of the game we need to clear our lines and kicks into the ruck 5 meters in front of himCatman wrote:Fcuk me, but Bosch is useless!!!
Those who see him as Boks saviour flyhalf need to watch and re-watch this game.
That abortion of an attempted drop goal sums him up: Glory boy with far less talent than he thinks he has. Shades of Gaffie du Toit
Hope he fcuks off to France
Libbok costs us valuable territory and possession in the last 15 minutes. 1 kick over the deadball line, 1 kickoff directly into touch, a knock in our 22.Jensrsa wrote:Only Libbok? According to Sards you are a doos toobeachboy wrote:Watched the final with a few knowledgeable rugby mates. 20 minutes in to the 2nd half and we were all bitching about the amount of ball we were kicking away. We kicked too much and our kicking was poor. When we carried the ball we made good metres. It was obviously the coaches instruction once we were in the lead to kick for territory and play in the English half. Our usual negative tactic instead of going for the kill.
The Baby Boks were superior to England in that second half but poor execution and composure lost the game. Lots of positives though, there is some real talent. The more I see Bosch play the more I think he is not up to playing at a high level. I made an effort to keep an eye on him for a few minutes to see what he does when he is not in play. I noticed he could have got into position to catch a few kicks and make a tackle but made no effort, in fact on one occasion moved in the opposite direction to avoid being involved. You cant hide at this level.
Then he criticize Willemse defense. I am telling you if Dimian played 10 & Lombaard in 15 it would have been a total different story.Jensrsa wrote:According to Sards you are a doos toobeachboy wrote:Watched the final with a few knowledgeable rugby mates. 20 minutes in to the 2nd half and we were all bitching about the amount of ball we were kicking away. He was very disappointing. The panicked DG with 3 mins to go said it all.handyman wrote:Saw this as well. Well, that and the 10 other times a rushed kick got charged down in the match. Not sure if it was poor positional play by the kickers, or poor blocking around the rucks by the forwards. Probably both, but still reflected poorly on all the backline players. As they advance up the ladder that time and space in the pocket will become less and less. Bosch in particular doesn't seem to be one of those flyhalves that can manufacture time and space in the pocket.saffer13 wrote:He was very disappointing. Maybe, but it sometimes seems to me that this ability is an innate ability. A 6th sense that potentially great flyhalves have. Maybe I'm wrong and if I am our current batch needs to develop some ASAP.saffer13 wrote:That being said....he's 19. It was the coach game plan. They should just left them playing their natural game.assfly wrote:I haven't watched any of the Baby Boks games, but I can't believe how the knives are out for Bosch. There is even a journo on News24 saying he's not up to it.
How is it that he can excel so much in Super Rugby yet not so much in U20 rugby? To give him the benefit of the doubt, perhaps it's because he doesn't have the same quality players around him.
It's quite bizarre really. Was it Catman who said Bosch should fark off to France? Are we not possibly being being too hard on these boys.assfly wrote:I haven't watched any of the Baby Boks games, but I can't believe how the knives are out for Bosch.
