All to play for in the last 4 matches. Couldn't ask for a better finish. Bulls, Lions, and Stormers all still in it. Bulls had a chance to open up a bit of space between them and the Stormers...

Stormers run in:
Rebels (H)
Cheetahs (H) - doubt we'll take them easy again :x
Lions (H)
Sharks (A)

All winnable matches but as we know, anything can happen in the derby match. Looking for to the finish either way.

We should be able to take 3 out of 4 really. With the Bulls losing their easy game of the tour and tough games ahead, we might not need to win a lot, but that will leave us in 3 place and an away semi if we get that far.

I expect 4 wins, anything else should be considered a failure. However, I won't be surprised with a loss to any of the next 4 either. All still very much open imo. A few kiwi teams still in the running (don't be surprised with a late Saders surge). 2nd is still a realistic goal for us.

That Cheetahs loss really screwed us though.

I'm still angry about that loss. We just never pitched for the game.

No major/new injury concerns:
The full Stormers injury report on Monday:

- Wing Johnny Kotze (ankle stiffness) took part in the morning session on Monday but sat out the afternoon session. He is not in doubt for this weekend.

- Flank Michael Rhodes missed training with a cold but will hopefully join team training soon as he nears his comeback from a hamstring injury.

- Centre Jaco Taute will play Vodacom Cup rugby (Western Province are in the semi-finals) as his comeback from a knee injury continues to gather momentum. He has now played two games in a row for WP.

- Wing Kobus van Wyk (knee) is still on track for the Lions match, having started pitch-side running on Monday.

Club Warehouse Injury Report

Sefanaia Naivalu is the only player on this week’s Club Warehouse Injury Report, the rookie RaboDirect Rebels back facing a test before being declared fit to play against the Stormers in Cape Town this Sunday morning (Australian time).

Naivalu suffered a head knock against the Reds on Friday night in Brisbane, and will follow concussion protocols this week.

Rebels’ Head of Athletic Performance Bryce Cavanagh said that as always, the Club will put Sefa’s welfare first.

“Sefa copped a knock whilst in the action of tackling on Friday, and reported some symptoms consistent with concussion,” Cavanagh said. “His wellbeing is our number one priority, and while we will give him every opportunity to be available for selection we will also ensure he is only declared fit if we are 100% confident that he is good to go.”

Strongest Stormers team to play Rebels

DHL Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has confirmed that he will be selecting both Duane Vermeulen and Schalk Burger for Saturday’s important Vodacom Super Rugby clash with the Rebels at Newlands.

Both players are due for varying amounts of rest as per the rest agreement struck between the South African Rugby Union and franchise chief executives at the start of the year, and it was assumed that this might be a game where Coetzee would do it. Vermeulen has already rested three games and is due to sit out one more, while Burger has two stipulated rest games and he hasn’t been rested yet.

“Obviously it means that Schalk will have to sit out two of the three games that will come after this, and Duane will have to sit out one, but we have decided that against the Rebels we want the strongest possible team,” said Coetzee.

So much for Carr and kolisi being Springbok standard.
Although I have to admit that Schalk is performing way above any expectations I had of him and is in the same form he was in before he stopped playing and would get my nod for the bok squad.

Well of course Vermeulen is better than Carr and Burger is better than Kolisi. It would be madness to suggest otherwise. Carr and Kolisi are valuable squad members though and will start a few games when the incumbents are rested or injured. We are also blessed that a lot of our backrowers cover a number of positions in the backrow. Schalk can play with Kolisi or Carr.

Stormers should just pick him on the bench and not use him. Go for a 5-3 split and just hope to use to back subs. Having him available for teh last few matches and possible playoffs would be great.
Cape Town - Stormers coach Allister Coetzee is set to meet with returning Blitzbok star Seabelo Senatla on Tuesday before officially ruling him out of consideration for Saturday’s important Super Rugby clash with the Rebels at Newlands.

The supersport.com website reports that Senatla was part of the national sevens squad that ended second in the recent HSBC World Series, and is expected back in the country on Tuesday after competing in tournaments in Scotland and London over the past two weekends.

Coetzee is eager to engage Senatla in the business end of the Super Rugby season, and is working with Western Province director of rugby Gert Smal in trying to establish what the protocols are regarding Senatla’s availability for the play-offs.

According to the official SANZAR ruling a new player has to play four league matches before qualifying to play in the Finals Series.

With the Stormers having four more league matches left on their schedule, that would mean Senatla has to play against the Rebels.

However as Senatla was on the Stormers squad list at the start of the season, Coetzee believes there could be some leeway, and that was what he was trying to establish.

Coetzee is reluctant to push Senatla into action in the match against the Rebels as the Blitzbokke medical staff have advised the Stormers doctor that he is suffering from a slight hemaetoma on a thigh muscle.

"The call on Seabelo will be a medical call," said Coetzee on Monday afternoon.

"At the moment I don’t know his mental or physical state.

"I haven’t spoken to him. I will meet with him and discuss it with him tomorrow (Tuesday) once he has arrived back in Cape Town.

"Ideally I would like to give him off until next week, offer him a rest chance.

"But we would like him to be available for the knock-outs. I don’t want to push him into action if he is injured, so we need to find out what the SANZAR requirements are.

"What I can say is that if he is not the full Seabelo, in other words if he is only 80% fit and is carrying an injury, then I can’t consider him regardless of how much I might want to.

"Of course it would be nice to have his X-factor available to us if he is fit, so if when I meet with him he convinces me he is 100% and is eager to play, then there is an outside chance he could be considered for the Rebels game.

"It would all depend on our conversation tomorrow.

"In the meantime Gert is trying to establish exactly what the SANZAR requirements are.

"Seabelo isn't a new player who played for another 15-man team while the Super Rugby season was going. He was playing for the national sevens team. That might make a difference."

Coetzee said there was no doubt about Senatla’s fitness to play 80 minutes of rugby, it just hinged on whether he was carrying any kind of injury, and whether he was mentally ready to be drafted straight back into the Super Rugby environment.

Senatla was a key member of the WP team that won the Currie Cup last year but he holds a dual contract with WP and SA Rugby and is committed to playing for the national sevens team through until the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Rebels’ Coach Tony McGahan was forced into three changes to his starting lineup, as Tamati Ellison (groin), Sefanaia Naivalu (concussion) and Toby Smith (back) miss out, but flanker Scott Fuglistaller returns to the starting lineup in Cape Town.
