Well folks, the final game for the Blues. Stick a fork in them, they're done. The Canes, however, have 4th spot done and dusted. It won't get better, and it can't get worse. Expect Plumtree to reach deep into the wider training group, and put out a team that will have most fans asking "Who are these people!!"

I reckon Dane Coles and Gareth Evans will be getting a big run, but I see a number of their stars being rested for the Knockout Rounds, especially with the Crusaders having a bye week.

The Canes have nothing really to play for, except keeping momentum. The Blues have nothing but Pride....

The TAB has the blues at $3.60, and the Canes at $1.28. Might be worth a lazy bet on the boys north of the Bombays!!!

Yep, total nothing game for the Canes. Still, whoever runs out needs to be aware of what the Canes jersey means, the history, the pri..... well I hope they at least play well.

Beauden should at least be on the bench considering he missed last week. I'm going to the game but I hope Ardie doesn't play - had the most minutes out of forward for us this year

This. I said it before. The guy just can't keep putting in that kind of effort. Give him a proper break.

I'm going to the game just because it's a NZ Derby.

But plum needs to rest everyone for this dead rubber.

C'mon Canes B team stick it to em!!!

This game is also the Fan Appreciation night at the Caketin.

This presents a bit of a conundrum. Is it showing appreciation to your fans by sending out a B team? I think most fans would understand, and I'm sure the diehards wont give a stuff, as the big guns will be out next week.

Nah, he's young and can handle it. Give him a full 80

Easy really. Play some of the key squad members but either pull them off early (double entendre noted) or start them off the bench during the second.

I think Ardie could probably afford to miss a full game, but Beaudy needs some sort of a run. What's the situation with Goosey and Proctor?

In other news Skuds has just had another shoulder surgery to clean up some issues with his last surgery. Hope he comes right after this and can make some coin in Europe

This is the least shocking news of the year, and I still can't believe Toulon gave him a 3-year deal... :uhoh:

I hope that contract has guaranteed money for him, tho!

Sad he was so injury-ridden, have good 2015 memories of him though. Yes be good if he can cash in...

Anyway, the Blues have been named. New midfield combo, Ofa getting a rest, and PT + Rieko back:

EDIT: The Blues can't even tweet right... They've changed their team. Rieko to the right wing - hmm...

Spoiler: show

the blues getting Barrett and putting him at fullback could be the worst decision in professional rugby.

Nanai's leaving, so putting BB in his strongest position wouldn't be that bad a call.

Perofeta has a superior passing game anyway.

On Nanai, he's been the Blues best this season.

Fancy that, Tana?

Where's Collins, Tana?

A weak Blues team vs an experimental Hurricanes team. Just shows the disparity in depth between the two teams that the Canes have rest of host of stars and still field a better team.

Interesting that Ma's Nonu is on the bench for what could be his last ever game of pro-Rugby in NZ. And the Blues find of the year Tom Robinson is also coming off the bench. The Blues backrow should be the point of difference, all highly rated players but can they perform against the hard working Canes backrow trio?

The Odds have shortened dramatically.

Canes now at $1.80
Blues now at $2.00

I got on the Blues at $3.75, and +9.5 at $1.89.

I'm still picking the Canes win - but hopefully we can keep it close so I can cash the latter bet.

Blues were shorter than the Canes (by about 6 cents) when I put my tips in half an hour ago.
I tipped the Canes by 10...

More defections form the Canes starting team. Chris Eaves steps aside for Xavier Numia and Richard Judd is replaced by Finlay Christie. It's a definite C team with elements of D creeping in.

C'mon the Canes.

It’s quite cool in Wellington today, and the forecast is to get cooler, wetter and windier.....

Looking forward to seeing how Garden-Bachop goes.
