went to see Aracade Fire last weekend - the really put on an incredible performance ; get the feeling the really are enjoying themselves -they had a New Orleans brass band opening who then joined in the party at the end which was fantastic. They did this thing where the set and entrance is like some big boxing/UFC event ; very cool. They include some cranberries medley stuff at the end also which was a nice touch

Aye they were top notch in Glasgow on Monday there. Got Jim Kerr on stage for Simple Minds Don’t You (Forget about Me)., went down well with the locals.

Scored tickets to see Jamiroquai at Montreux Jazz.

To be honest it's a bit more of a nostalgia gig than anything for me. Big fan through the 90s and early 2000s but not even sure they have released anything in the last 10 years.

Which venue did you go to? I went to the State Theatre as the acoustics in the main concert hall of the Opera House are terrible.

Saw these guys for the 8th time in 22 years two weeks back

That's where i saw him five years back. Awesome festival and recall one of them perhaps 2010 that had so much talent that Tim Finn was right down the bottom and probably playing at around midday. This year seemed a little weak, did you see Tash Sultana?

I love the National - will be seeing them again at all points east in May. Amazing band, I actually like the way Matt Berninger (the singer) almost introverts and goes into a song shell on the stage.

Recently saw Arcade Fire at Wembley, it was a cracking performance. Their live stuff is so brilliant not a single soul in the arena was sitting down at the end.

I like the National too. But I do struggle with his singing. He seldom gets out of first gear and then only briefly into second. I like a bit more build and release.

It was a weak billing this year. Total fudge up of a day, friend I was going with was one of the coordinators for the com games music and she got held up very late, that and forgetting there was a daylight saving time difference had us arriving 45min before he went on.

Saw Marlon Williams last night at the Hunter Lounge in Vic Uni.

Great gig, but what a shit venue.

Stage is too low so loads of people couldn't see shit, too many tickets were sold and we were packed in like sardines which made it impossible to get to the toilets or get a drink.

Took my kids to their first rock concert on Friday night. Imagine Dragons. Not my type of music but I can appreciate a tight band with a great lead singer. It was all a little too...god bothery though. Lots of songs about trying to be a better man and love and forgiveness and such. Lead singer spent the whole night shirtless and is in, uh, rather good shape. I thought the girls sitting behind me were going to slip off their chairs.

I saw. Creedence Kyuss Revisited there a few years back now when they were touring as Kyuss Lives!

Pretty tight space but not overly sold. We were by the sound desk and the sound was a bit shite.

Gazza,

I’d check out Def Leppard were I in the same town and tickets not overly pricey.

They're a massive band of my past. The concert is Hysteria from start to finish. It's only a couple hours away so I though why not. I'm jumping up and down clapping my hands excited.

Got tickets to see Oh Sees in September, which I'm somewhat excited about given their live reputation. Will miss out on HMHB this time round as we're on holiday, which is a pity.

I talked to Muse, formerly of this parish, last week on FB. An old conversation of me telling him about Swervedriver Raise popped up on the “on this day” bollocks. He told me he’s been cranking a shit tonne of Thee Oh Sees recently. I hadn’t heard them. I like a bit of what I heard.

Didn’t realise they had two drummers until I found this link just now https://youtu.be/aYhnSgESK5w

Saw Melvins in Dunedin 7 years back during their two drummer tour and thought it a waste of time. Unnecessary.

Caught them last year, when they were touring material drawn from 'Orc' and 'A Weird Exits' with the 2 drummer line up - one of the best gigs I've ever experienced,up there with The Clash and Killing Joke back in the day. I'm sometimes a touch reticent about fully endorsing whichever act Mr Riley happens to be gushing over this week, but he was bang on with Dwyer's mob. Think they're back to 1 drummer on the latest line-up, presume yer going to the Kentish town gig? I'm hoping to catch them at Bristol, or even better, at EOTR - that's if I can crowbar my son away from his latest g/f...
This is a good example of their mellower sound; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW4kzKAFRpI

Got the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn today and there was a lot of metal t-shirted folk on board. Arrived in Tallinn and there were posters everywhere for Nickelback playing tonight. Surely not, I thought...

Sure enough, Maiden are kicking off their latest world gour here tomorrow, so my faith in the Finns is restored. Was 30 tickets left, so I grabbed a couple. And they are on their 'hits' tour cycle, not the 'new shit' tour cycle, so should be decent.

Was a very enjoyable show - not really one to get excited about the whole "let's find out what their set-list is for the tour" hype, but I must admit it was entertaining, particularly the crowd reaction when rarities came on.

Best by far was that they played "Flight of Icarus" live for the first time in over 30 years. Pretty much my favourite Bruce era Maiden song. Also kicked in "Where Eagles Dare" for the first time in a decade, which is a cool song.

The other rarer songs weren't so exciting - "Then Clansman" is pretty damn cool when sung live by Bruce, but "Sign of the Cross" and "For the Greater Good of God" are just too damn long and not that special. Could easily have been replaced by four better normal length tracks in the same amount of time (or "Rime of the Ancient Mariner"). I quite like "The Wickerman", so that one was OK - but again, could have resurrected a much cooler (and longer buried) song than that.

Dave Murray looks really fat. He isn't really huge, but looks like 90% of his weight is stored underneath his chin.

Janik Gers is still the single worst live musician in existence. He really detracts from their live show. He contributes fudge-all actual playing (he is surplus to requirements with Dave Murray and Adrian Smith there) and what he does play is usually absolute butchering of Smith's old solo's. He's not a terrible guitarist, but his style really doesn't suit the old material. And his stage presence is just cringe-worthy - actually painful to watch. He looks like an 8 year old kid who has watched a one-hour highlights video of the most extravagant 80s glam posturing guitar-work, then puts on an air-guitar show for his family afterwards. Just absolutely dire. He actually is one of the better song writers in the band post re-union, but he needs to be put out the back for live shows.

Wife booked to see ASH play a *tiny* club in Bedford in August. Capacity 250, that'll be f**king sweaty and noisy and amazing.

Hoping to get tickets for PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING at the Albert Hall in November when they go on sale next week.

Very nice, haven´t seen Ash Live but have seen PSB a few times and they are brilliant live
