Did anyone ever look into Trump possibly, and possibly accidentally, getting his hands on all that money looted from the Kazakh bank I cannot remember the name of? Though who hasn't helped launder billions of dollars whilst diverting money into a building that's no longer named after you because your name is too toxic?

This is the party that has Nunes denying he's met Parnas and saying it'd be very unlikely he's be taking calls from 'random people', but then faced with reality stumbles as far as saying he now recalls he's spoken to him on the phone but doesn't know who he is, and it was a random call in nature (now a random call rather than person) though good enough he told Parnas 'great, just speak to my staff and set it up' whatever it is - presumably he doesn't know how Parnas got his phone number, though I assume it's easy to get the phone number for senior Congressional figures

And not only are the GOP not cross about this they barely think it worth a mention, and certainly not worth a follow up. They're just very weird
Nunes is telling the truth. Nunes takes random calls from people and I called him and he took mine.

An interesting Reuters article on the Trump trade wars and specifically his primary mechanism, tariffs.

Charting the trade war Tariffs lead to global slowdown

Actually, no so much an artificial but a load of graphs that are simple enough even for me to grasp some of it.

Is Trump essentially appointing lawyers he's seen on TV who're willing to take him as a client? This does look to be the way for the UK to get a good trade deal post Brexit, just get something daft on the telly and he'll lap it up

And put a huge * by that putting things back to the status quo. You can be sure 99.99% of Trump’s base has no idea what was lost when he ripped up the TPP. All the stuff the manufacturing sector should be caring about like fair labor laws in the partner countries etc. This vs the half-arsed deal he made with Japan.

Perhaps it's unfair to blame Trump and his economic policy. Perhaps it's simply a coincidence that the loss of confidence showing in the markets mirrors his presidency.
Yahoo on his inauguration 20/1/17
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) declined 0.4%, to close at 19,732.40. The S&P 500 also decreased 0.4% to close at 2,263.69. The tech-laden Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 5,540.08, losing 0.3%. The fear-gauge CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) increased 2.4% to settle at 12.78.
Now the DJI is 29348, S&P500 3329, Nasdaq 9388 and VIX 12.10

So where are you coming from?

Correct. I don't think [Joe] Biden's corrupt. I'm sure [Hunter] is but there's no evidence of it rising to the level of illegality. Law enforcement would've found something by now if it did. I'm sure William Barr is polishing his crucifix over effigies of the Bidens as we speak, getting Jebus on the case, leaving no altar boy unturned. But if they are then the Mercans need to know.

It was in the context of an eagerly anticipated speech.

Trump seemed to be sticking largely to his script, which is disappointing. I was hoping he would go off the rails and provide a little entertainment, but apart from the continual boasting about himself and the statement that America was on the skids when he took over, he doesn't seem to be too outrageous.

Trump's defence team have put out the document detailing their defence, such as it is, of the President. Stating when the President says do us a favour it has nothing to do with the President's personal interests, which is either just utter nonsense or it's the Nixon/Judge Dredd defence that the President is the state and thus the law and thus can't do anything wrong.

Corruption and illegality overlap sometimes. One of the great skills of corrupt officials is to siphon money to themselves in ways that don't break the law. Hunter Biden taking a position on the Pudenda board is corrupt. It's not illegal.

For a Harvard law professor to use phrases like "crime-like" and "I'm more correct now" in all seriousness is laughable. Exposed himself as a useful tool.

Minor eh? Lolita express-like?
