You and I both know that when it comes to the crunch the guys who will do the killing are liberals. Conservatives at their very core are scared and that is why 83% of medal of honour winners support the Democrats since the 1960's. You can find the evidence for that on Liberal treehouse.com and zerobush
Liberals have so many medals of honour they just throw them away.....as geniusly exposed by swiftboat veterans for Bush ; remember John Kerry had so many medals (7) form Vietnam that he threw some away..... ; now Bush spent the Vietnam war coked off his tits blowing through dads cash (see a pattern here ?) but managed to convince "conservatives" that he was the tough Patriot needed to protect the US against Saddam and another 9/11, his WMD's or whatever the latest version was at the time./
One thing the ruling class knows from antiquity is you don't want the soldiers to get involved in running the show.

Case in point: Gladiator, where Gluteus Maximus was played by a Kiwi. My Googling indicates there were no New Zealanders in Germania. Oops - wrong thread. ;-)

Let's see. I've personally known people at 3 different military bases. Based on experience, this is not true. Not to say there aren't people that are liberals that are veterans, but while they're serving, the majority of them are not. And most minorities are not actually liberals as far as political philosophy, they just vote for the Democrats.

George Washington
Andrew Jackson
William Henry Harrison (served a month before dying so can't really judge him)
Zachary Taylor
Ulysses Grant
Dwight Eisenhower

2 out of 5 for good presidents ain't bad. And Jackson had his good points, albeit he didn't give a shit about who he pissed off.

 I personally *do* like soldiers as leaders. The reason elites don't like them is they tend to play for the team, not the sponsors.

I would have thought the comparison to how Jackson treated native americans would be more of the symbolism he was going for
Jackson was in his and his supporters' opinions robbed of the election in 1824. The era of U.S. politics preceding 1824 was called "The Era of Good Feelings", or there was only one political party. The Federalists which had formed around circa 1800 had effectively died as they had no presence in the southern or western frontier which is where all the population growth was occurring. James Monroe was president at this time and the person nominated for president was considered by a party elite caucus. The caucus nominated William Crawford in 1824. Also running was John Quincy Adams (son of the 2nd president John Adams, from the northeast), Henry Clay (Speaker of the House, power player in Congress), and Andrew Jackson. Jackson was a war hero from the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. The fact this was a 4-way completed destroyed the party caucus method of selecting a president.

Election gets held, and all 4 candidates win states to where no one won a majority in the Electoral College. This meant, for the only time in the nation's history so far, the House of Representatives would meet and select the president from the top 3 electoral vote getters. Jackson received the plurality, followed by Adams and Crawford. Clay finished 4th and was not available for selection from a body where he had a ton of influence. Crawford suffered medical problems which put him out of serious selection. So it was between Adams and Jackson. Clay absolutely hated Jackson, leading to one of his 2 most famous political statements, "I don't see how killing 2000 Englishmen in New Orleans qualifies a man for the presidency". He threw his support behind Adams, who was elected by the House, and Clay became Secretary of State. Jackson and his supporters were furious, calling it "The Corrupt Bargain". This led to the creation of the next two-party system in the country's history, and Jackson and his supporters 4 years later ran against Adams and won. The political elites in Washington were nonplussed about it all, saying the country had been taken over by the dogs.

There's the bit about the Native Americans. Supreme Court made a ruling against Jackson, which led to Jackson saying "[Supreme Court Justice] John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it." Jackson was on the side of the Union in the then-growing chasm developing between the North and South and was furious when his one-time vice president James Calhoun - a supporter of Southern interests - backstabbed him on administration issues. Jackson hated the Bank of the United States that Clay and his supporters (now calling themselves Whigs after the Whig Party in Britain that was the archnemesis of the Tories during the American Revolution) strongly believed in as part of their "American System", and led to a banking crisis in the country as Jackson refused funds to the BUS leading the head of the BUS Nicholas Biddle to go out and collect all the loans he loaned to banks around the country, which they couldn't pay back. Clay ran against Jackson in 1832 using some of Jackson's decisions against him, but Clay misread the population at-large because the population largely agreed with what Jackson was doing, which led to Clay's most famous political statement: "I'd rather be right than be president."

You can see the parallels in Jackson and Trump, it's just Jackson operated in a time of less rules, a less interconnected world, and the President of the United States was not one of the most powerful people in the world then.
