vc whining about the schedule b/c he can't fix a leaky roof... :P

4 home games in a row. Cs are decimated - no Kyrie today. Pels will be favoured in all 4 games.

Great basketball experience for my daughter this weekend, her team made it to the championship game in her league at Golden 1 arena. They played the only team that had beaten them all season and blew them out, suffocating defense ftw, the other team got no layups and virtually no clean looks. Couldn't have been prouder when she made a free throw (in the league they shoot one ft which is worth 2 points) with a few minutes left to put the icing on the cake.

Great stuff Smee, that's so cool that they get to play on the same court as the Kings.

I hope the Kings offered her a 10-day contract, Smee...

Very cool. Congrats to her.

In NBA news:

https://twitter.com/OlehKosel/status/975924942314332160

The Nuggets, now 38-33, have lost the first two games (Grizzlies, Heat) of their 7-game road trip. Remaining five: Bulls, Wizards, Sixers, Raptors, Thunder.

Millsap's return has not gone well... and Gary Harris is hurt. They could be done.

Nope - I'm not even on twitter...

I was just lurking on Western conference rivals, and that popped up, so I grabbed it.

I probably should get on twitter - would make things a lot easier.

They can still pull out the win, but the Thunder are playing like shit against this under strength Celtics. No one's attacking the rim and they're not shooting well from outside. Making it look wayyy too hard.

Dunno why they don't try something different - chuck it down to Adams in the post for instance. But that would go against the "No one pass it to Steven in the 4th" rule they seem to enforce.

The Celtics trailed by 5 with 16.8 seconds to go and won. Entering today, teams were 0-884 this season when trailing by 5 or more points in the final 20 seconds of the game.

I hope Carmelo picks things up in the play offs. He may be a shadow of the scorer he once was, but OKC is going to need him to play well.

Not suprising, those sorts of plays are chaotic & things get missed all the time.

https://twitter.com/AdamHimmelsbach/sta ... 0111610880

ALSO - that's applying a ludicrously tight definition of travelling that is NEVER enforced in the NBA. If they're gonna do these L2M reports, they should apply the same standards as the rest of the game and in game, Morris gets called for travelling .0009% of the time for that play.

That said - the Thunder is (or was as of Feb 28) the 4th unluckiest team in terms of bad officiating in the last 2 minutes and given how tight the playoff picture is, you gotta think that's gonna cost them a place or two in the final washup. Notably, the Thunder are the only team in the top 7 who are currently in playoff position (though Denver are the 3rd most unlucky and are only 2 games out of 8th in the West so they could curse their luck too).

Jeez, what are the Hornets putting in their Gatorade?

Last game Dwight has a 30/30 game, now Kemba has 46 points and 10 3's made in the third quarter.

He may not get a chance to go for Curry's record of 13 made 3's as they're up by nearly 50 and he'll probably sit out the 4th entirely.

When I saw the score after 3 quarters I googled the worst NBA losses ever. Can't remember the exact numbers, but 61 would definitely be top 5, maybe even top 3.

Somewhere, David Fizdale is opening up a big can of schadenfreude.

According to @SecondSpectrum, Kemba Walker made 9 contested threes on Thursday, the most by any player in a game this season.

Good News - Steven Adams scored the first 8 points for OKC tonight.
Bad News - They've only got 12 points and Portland have 27.

I think one basketball analyst called it correctly last week, when she said Adams is or should be OKC's third scoring option.

OKC is a terrible 3 point shooting side. When PG is playing well, they're ok. But when he's in a funk - like he is right now - nobody else can deliver consistent 3 pointers for them.

Quite right, Tehui.

At least with PG, you know he can defend.

Melo? Just awful. Grant + Patterson played well today, but we have to close with this farking bum b/c Billy is too much of a pussy.

You could bench Kanter, but you can't bench Melo b/c he's a "superstar".

The Thunder drive me nuts. How many games does Adams start off hot, shoots a high %...and then he gets a handful more shots the rest of the game!? Keep going to him until it stops working FFS! Melo absolutely reeks these days. He's a liability. He can fark right off. If they had someone who could knock down threes at 40% or so they'd be so much better. They won't do shit in these playoffs.

The other reason they should go with Adams more often is because he's getting better at passing out of the post to open players. 3 point shooters love passes out of the post, as they don't have to turn their body to catch the ball.

I've always been a PG fan even when he was in Indiana. I hope he stays after this season. OKC are a great defensive side when all of their players are healthy. Defense was becoming the team's identity prior to AR going down with injury (Brewer has done a good job for them by the way).

I hope Villanova makes the final so I might actually make some money in bracket pools in spite of my national champion Virginia going out in the first round, but here's cheering for Loyola of Chicago.

I'm in the same spot, except I picked Villanova to beat Virginia in the Championship game. I want a Villanova-Loyola championship game. Win-win. Sister Jean is awesome.

Chicago is going nuts for Loyola. Great to see, and 1963 "Game of Change" story getting some overdue coverage as well.

The Thunder have had some massive help over the last 72 hours.

Stevens really is an amazing coach. The Cs are so banged up, but they never give an inch. It's impressive to watch.

Yeah, the teams behind them have done them some big favours - especially the Spurs losing yesterday. T Wolves losing to the Grizzlies was unexpected too.

That matchup with the Spurs tomorrow is huge, hopefully the Thunder should take it as Aldridge is banged up (and might not even play). Still, that loss to the Celtics is gonna cost them, I just know it (especially as they lose almost every tie breaker scenario)

I just watched the period of OT between OKC and Nuggets, in which the Nuggets won by 1 point.

What an awful display of tactical nous by OKC.
