Rockets - T’wolves in 5. Really like the Rockets.
Warriors - Spurs in 6. Think SA will steal a game or two...in any case I don’t think GS will win the title if one of KD or Steph is out.
Blazers - Pelicans in 7. Think the Pels could spring a surprise here too.
Thunder - Jazz in 6. Bit of a tossup but the Jazz are something like 28-6 since Gobert returned. Either of these teams will lose to the Rockets though.

———

Raptors - Wizards in 5. This one could go longer than that but you just get the feeling things are coming apart out in DC.
Celtics - Bucks in 4. Really don’t rate the Bucks.
Sixers - Heat in 5. Watch out for the Sixers IMO
Cavs - Pacers in 6. Kind of heart over head here as I’ve become quite attached to the Pacers over this season, but they’ve really shown the ability to take apart poor defenses to an extent that I think they can spring a surprise here. The Cavs have been better lately but if Love goes missing they might be boned.

Rockets
Dubs
Blazers
Thunder - Jazz the better team but HCA tips it for the Thunder

Raptors
Celtics - only due to HCA and Stevens being a top 2 coach in the league
Sixers
Cavs - too much playoff experience and too much Lebron

Yeah, pretty much. It’s very hard to see LeBron going down in the first round...if he willed a decimated Cavs team to a 2-1 lead in the first CLE-GS Finals series, he should definitely be able to singlehandedly guide the team to 4 wins over these Pacers.

That said, this may be his weakest team since his first Cleveland stint.

The Pacers’ chances hinge on the play of the rest of their starting 5 who aren’t Dipo, particularly the defense of Thad Young (on LeBron) and the scoring of Bojan Bigdaddyvic and Myles “please don’t put me in the same sentence as the unicorns” Turner*. Darren Collison is having a career year (led the league in 3P% at 47%, and I believe also assist/turnover ratio as well), so that should help.

Lil’ Sabonis will do some damage on the center-less Cavs and Lance will probably find some way to memorably irritate LeBron. Who knows...

*I like him but he’s not really lived up to the admittedly lofty expectations of most Pacers fans

I like the Jazz over the Thunder, Snyder is a very good (and unheralded) coach, they lose Hayward and still make the playoffs in the west, thats been an overlooked achievement this season.

Given the absence of Kyrie the Celtics are vulnerable and I'd pick against them except Ive been underwhelmed by the Bucks all season long. Theyve been the false dawn team of the year.

Phillys shooters (primarily Bellinelli and Reddick but also Saric) just cannot miss.......

Pathetic second half performance from Miami all the same.....

Would you back the Heat against any of the other 15 playoff teams in a 7 game series?

I wouldn't.

Spo did a great job getting them to 44 wins - but there is nothing on that roster that scares anyone.

Quinn Snyder is a legend, actually made Mizzou temporarily respectable at basketball.

Yeah, Miami are nothing to write home about but it was a gutless performance in the 2nd half, 80 pts shipped, Hassan Whiteside did not show up at all and threw attitude at Spoelstra when he subbed him out. Lame.

Whiteside acting like a punk?

Dude is trash. Miami are better off trading him and giving his minutes to Bam + Kelly moving forward.

I am...only lasted a year there (you do the math...) and graduated elsewhere (SLU) but I still have a much greater emotional attachment to Mizzou.

Way more into pro sports though, to be honest.

Jrue Holiday, best defensive performance from a guard I can remember in a long time. That 3 on 2 he stopped was amazing.

But also:

Meanwhile, Pels late game very troubling. Running everything thru Rondo, Ian Clark over Moore, no offensive pace.

Fatigue? Nerves? Both? Happy you hung on, but running everything through Rondo = x(

I believe they call that a “head scratcher”.

As a side note I’ve wondered why, especially with the emergence of stretch 5s, that Portland has completely forgotten about Meyers Leonard. Zach Collins looks decent though, I suppose they want him to be that guy.

I see McCollum, Lillard, and Nurkic combined for less than 50 points. They’ll be lucky to get to Game 6 if that keeps up.

They might be buying into the playoff rondo meme a bit too much

It's usually Jrue running things late. Throughout the season Rondo typically wasn't even on the floor witht the finishers but he's picked up his game in recent weeks

Don't know why he says Moore though, he never runs the show

Yeah - Collins has supplanted Leonard.

Leonard is terrible - so naturally bring him on cold to go for a quick 2, on a fucking drive!

Then go for another quick 2! Down 3!

Stotts bottled this...

I think he means run through Jrue late, and have Moore close over Clark.

Has Clark closed much this season? Moore wasn't on the floor in the final 7 minutes.

Moore usually does. Clark is streaky. They'll often ride the hot hand with Clark and Miller, and Clark had just made a couple of 3s

But of the 3 Moore is the superior defender and usually plays 30+ minutes

I heard someone say Clark is on for his defensive prowess rather than his shot-making and I was like, what the fuk are you talking about? It's the exact opposite

Solo Hill is back now too and he had been the starting 3 and finishing 4, but he only saw 5 minutes (during which he nailed a corner 3 and stopped CJ). He's missed the whole season but for a brief spell last year he formed a pretty deadly line-up with Jrue-Moore-Solo-AD-Boogie. The net rating was off the charts with Jrue and Solo switching everything defensively and AD patrolling inside. Really hope he can make an impact but hamstrings are tricky

Bron at 44 minutes - Lou spared him the final 2 minutes of garbage time...

I've recorded the game - will have to watch it in its entirety later.

Well done, fonzee!

Time for my Thunder to concede 30 corner 3s! I'm pumped!
