Too scared to suspend him...
It was kind of a grey area to be fair - he wasn't on the bench, he was at the scorers table waiting to enter and it wasn't a shooting foul so there was no reason why he couldn't enter.
Yeah - I'm not sure there's a precedent?

Though I think if it was Dakari, he'd be getting a 1 game suspension...

James with the winner!

Probably got away with a goal tend at the other end, but seeing as he hit a 3 it would have been a winner anyway.

OKC getting owned to end the season it looks like. Can they get some sort of a run going with Rudy in foul trouble? Probably not.

Turns out they can - down 21 when Gobert picked up his 4th they've tied the game heading into the 4th. Gobert checked back in and picked up a 5th too.

OKC get the huge comeback win.

Russ was huge in the 3rd & 4th, but still had one boneheaded play in him. Up 7 with 53 seconds left out of a timeout. Run the clock down before taking your shot, right? Naw, jack it up for 3 after 1 second.

Run the clock down?!

He had 2.5 seconds to shoot!

That's what you'll find the shot clock was on when the timeout was called. :P

Anyway, that was one of the worst/best games I've ever watched. It encapsulates this season.

What a comeback.

They simply have to attack Gobert in Game 6. You're gonna get your ass blocked, but he's gonna foul...

I'm not sure what they've got left, tho - Russ + PG played the entire 2nd half, and Steve only had a minute rest!

Madness.

EDIT: And the run came with Melo off the floor! Thunder switched up their defence!

 I was writing an e-mail at that stage and only half paying attention!

Yeah, it was notable that they could actually defend without Melo. Still, the offence was essentially PG & Russ hitting jumpers off screens and I don't think that'll work next time.

I saw the half time score in the Jazz v Thunder game, and I just assumed Jazz had won the series. What a comeback that was.

As for Lebron in game 5 against the Pacers - daaaamn!

It's pitiful that jafas are becoming more like a jealous female that got dumped for a better looking broad, talking about old times, clinging so tightly to their once prideful status as a married woman, only to realize 20 years past and you've become a $2 dollar crack whore selling your body like a slut just to pay for your crack addiction. Such is the state of Auckland rugby.

Sad to see.

PG was fouled by Gobert...

But he probably would have missed all 3 FTs the way he was going anyway!

Melo sucks.

Relieved the season is over - but thinking about Melo being back on this team for another year is tough to stomach...

Well done to the Jazz. Young Mitchell was a superstar - unreal in the 3rd. Without Rubio they are going to get destroyed by the Rox, tho.

PG with 5 points. Pacers going to game 7 on the back of a Dipo triple double.

If it was Jane Harden dribbling the ball, the foul would have got called.

I'm OK.

This team wasn't going anywhere with Melo on it, and Robes off of it...

Good luck to your Pacers in Game 7. I've been rooting hard for Dipo + Bonis! They were superb today!

I see Melo has a $28 million option for next season...yikes. Of all the overrated one-dimensional “pure scorers” in the league, he’s got to be there at the top.

Heads gotta roll in OKC.

Cheers though, it should be a cracker.

Yeah, that's the real kicker on the Melo trade - he's gonna stick around for another season for way too much and they can't trade him unless he agrees.

As disappointed as I am in OKC going out (even though I didn't really expect much from them in the post season and was resigned to a series loss after game 4) I gotta say this is by far the most interesting opening playoff round in ages. Two game 7's coming up, a straight up dominant sweep by a 6th seed, good series in OKC/Utah, Toronto actually looking like a contender and Philly taking a big step up too. Even the Spurs & T-Wolves did a bit to make their series interesting.

In what will come as no shock to anyone, Melo remains a delusional selfish plum:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2334 ... ch-returns
OKLAHOMA CITY -- If Carmelo Anthony returns to the Oklahoma City Thunder next season -- and that sounds like a bigger if than previously thought after his exit interview on Saturday -- it will not be in a bench role.

"Yeah, I'm not sacrificing no bench role," Anthony said. "That's out of the question.

Anthony's answer is consistent the way he felt on his first day with the Thunder, famously saying "Who me?" when asked about moving to the second unit, and asking Paul George as he walked by, "Hey P! They want me to come off the bench!"
I think the Thunder end up buying him out...

Anyway, let's go Bucks, and Pellies!

Steph a game-time decision tonight.

That's a lot of salary to eat even if someone else picks him up, but may be worth it.

Here's PG talking about if he'll come back - notably he doesn't mention Carmelo.
"I think the biggest thing is just trying to keep a relationship with Sam, continue to talk with Sam. Continue to talk with Billy, with Russ, and figure out the direction we want to go as a group."

Carmelo isn't leaving OKC. No side will pay top dollar for his services. Carmelo's best position in the team is leading the second unit. He should be the Ginobli of OKC and be played for 20 odd minutes.

What's the future of Donnelly? He hasn't impressed me as a coach. But that's no surprise given the team's tendency to play hero ball when things are tough.

Oh he's picking up the option, the only question is if they release him and pay $24 mill (ie, his 28 minus the minimum someone else might pay him) for nothing.

Are teams able to trade someone but continue to pay part of their salary? They could maybe do that if it's allowed - get something in return and someone might be willing to pay him more than minimum.

I can't see OKC paying Carmelo out, when they refused to pay Harden the approx $5M difference between what Harden's team wanted and what OKC were willing to offer.

I would love to hear the case against the warriors, other than injury, on a short term horizon (say, 3 years)

These young guns (Philly, boston, Denver etc) are cute... no one seriously thinks they're threatening golden state any time soon?

Klay has repeatedly said he'd take below market... Maybe the hope is they don't think Draymond would and they make a poor trade.

Philly getting Lebron is my hope and it's certainly possible. No other team gives what he'd need (I don't think Houston can make it work given Capela/CP3 expiring)?.. The PG line-up is great but still not near enough imo... just not enough scoring

Boston is going to be absolutely stacked next year, assuming they stay healthy: Irving-Brown-Tatum-Hayward-Horford is a likely starting lineup, a very strong bench (especially if they can keep Smart and Baynes this summer) and the second best coach in basketball calling the shots. They will compete with anybody.

GS will go as far as Steph and KD will take them. I do wonder if injuries are catching up with the former...and let us not forget that injuries almost derailed his career before he was a household name.
