This game looks awesome. Big fan of bf3 & 4 on the PS3, so will have to either get a Ps4 or xb1 or I suspect a beefier new PC to play it on.

Used to be quite handy at Fps on a PC with mous and keyboard, have always been much worse at Fps on a console .

Anyone else going to get this ? Which formats ?

all below are PS4 unless shown

PSN ID = Lekker_Pom

Feckwanker = somedose

Nolanator: Oscilulu (GOT BEATEN BY TAE !!!!!!!! Uber-lolz)

ulsters Red Proddy Hand - timg897

Normilet = Normilet89

Pole = Kgbrookie

Stevus55 = Dermot_Trellis

Maxbox Cobus = drcerebalpalsy

some old guy who isn't very good and gets his own ID wrong = swissguy_75

Tae = taeland (made nols ragequit even though he can’t go through doors or hit barn doors)

XBOX ONE :lol:
Sissyfuss

crash 12 (Xbox lolz so dunno who he is going to play with) - shadowfax8575

I just built a low-mid range Gaming PC and I'll probably get it. The only snag maybe that I live in an area without a decent - fast and stable - internet connection.

I haven't played a Battlefield game since 2142 on the PC, which I sunk days into. BF2 and 1942 were crackers too

BF on a console is just treason, I haven't played on a new-gen console yet but I assume it's still the crappy 32-player limits with no commanders?

64 player maps on the PC :smug:

4 hours of gameplay for those who want to see more than the Beta map.

Holy shit, I am excite. I enjoyed the beta a lot. Some of the maps look class as well.
Payday tomorrow, buying the game on Friday. Thinking that I might have to buy it in the morning and leave it downloading all day while in work as I can imagine that the download queue will be ridiculous and slow.
Couple of mates are getting it too, so time to squad up and shoot people again. :o

Get out from under your master racist rock, it's been 64 players with commanders since BF4 on PS4 and XB1.

FPS gaming on a console is just heresy, unless it's local multiplayer

a game like BF deserves to be played on a quality PC

Single player campaign review.

TL;DR: good stuff in there, particularly the writing, but only four hours in total and could have been so much more. Not the worst outcome given that BF is such a multiplayer focused franchise.
Be great if the added more single player stuff with DLC, but that's never gonna happen.

Having played the beta on PS4 and seen it running on a pretty decent PC there really isn't that much in it visually. Plays really well.

More a control scheme thing really, for me.

Jmk, do you mean mouse and keys versus joypad ?
On a PC with a mouse, when unreal tournament came out (dial up pings !) I was relatively ninja and got asked to join clans and regularly in top 3 per match.
On joypad on PS3 for battlefields 3&4 and mw2 and cod and black ops - quite shite

My thumbs just not as dexterous as my wrists - who'd have thunk?

Yeah. When I was a teenager I played quakeworld competitively :)

it's a control scheme thing, FPS games are just far better suited for PCs. more responsive and quicker movements = better game experience

playing any proper arena shooter on PC (Quake, Doom, UT2K4 etc) is a totally different experience than playing the same game on a gamepad

tbf this new BF does look good, I might pick this up

I fired up the old p2 - 266 about five years ago, found loads of Internet games and servers even though then the game was over ten years old (unreal tournament was the only game I played)

Expected to be a bit rusty and not remember all the maps - didn't expect to be quite so spaz and last place in team .

there isn't any new game likely to tempt them away, these are the sorts of guys still playing the original Unreal Tournament from 1999 even after five more Unreal games have been released

I watched a few of the QW 1v1 tournament matches recently. Christ. Modern games are slower, too, so these guys are playing at a ridiculous pace in comparison.

I noticed that too, Quake IV was noticeably slower and clunkier than Q3A and ever since then I don't think I've come across a proper new arena shooter that matches the original UT or Q3A for speed and reflexes

I used to play in the same 4v4 leagues as these guys, though I was never near their class as a 1v1 player nor did I have their ridiculous aim. 4v4 was fucking intense, though.

farking hell, that's almost dizzying to watch

Q3A was pretty frantic too, as I recall

Quake Live (basically updated Quake3) is the closest thing I can find to QW speed, yeah. Especially as it has a few game modes that increase the air movement and stuff. Occasionally fire up a game of Aerowalk or similar with a mate just to test the reflexes

(getting worse)

Hah thinking back, reppie (the guy in the vid) actually played on my team for a bit and was good friends with my old dutch flatmate.

Good times, good times.

Super twitchy arena shooters are shit. Reminds me of Yoda's hamster on speed routine from attack of the clones.

Arena shooters are the tits if you're playing on your own or with any number of friends, whereas a game like BF is only really fun with a group of friends where it's actually rewarding to work as a team

Also, people decrying use of console controllers for FPS games are from that arena shooter crowd. There's no doubt that KB&M is more precise and there's no comparison, but if you're not planning on dosing on amphetamines before playing then it's ok.

Openclash, fair enough. I prefer the slightly slower pace with a bit of tactics rather than just soloing everything in a couple of seconds.

:lol:

In twitch games - even slower ones like milsims - the difference is so stark that for people used to KB&M the controller can be a source of huge frustration. It's this lead weight holding you back.

Arena team games have plenty of strategy, by the way!

if the slower, squad-based multiplayer games are your thing then I'd recommend taking a look at Squad, made by the same people who made the Project Reality mod for BF2 with 50 vs 50 player maps

incredibly rewarding game to play as a team

I'm exaggerating a bit! I've seen some clips of squad, looks like fun, but I'm a casual scrub, TBH. I come home from work and shoot a few people for an hour or two and then head to bed. Will team up with a couple of mates if they're online. Don't ever take it seriously enough to go further with how serious I play or sun to get a PC.

It's hilarious watching PC guys playing on console at pre launch events, they're so much worse than regular console users. Once major difference is that the turning spec is so much faster, besides the obvious accuracy improvements.

If I get a ps4, will I have to pay for a yearly membership ? I have a PSN ID but I haven't ever paid to play online. What does it do exactly ?

Playing an FPS with a controller is like trying to paint a masterpiece with oven mitts on.
