Apparently EA servers are having problems. This is most inconvenient, the Mrs just gave me the TV.

Play a game and you should be able to adjust your loadouts.

Though I suspect something may be odd with matchmaking, tried to play rush last night but only one person ever joined. Had a very oddly compelling time spontaneously dicking about with them in the empty map though, which was probably more fun than had the match actually started.

Not worth it.

Actually, the single player campaign is OK but the online bit is very ordinary - especially compared to BF1.

Had to get my fill of shooting people in the head by playing a couple of the war stories. They were much easier than the first time now that I know the feel of the different weapons.

The story would be okish if it wasn't for the fcuking quick time events. The one with a US army jeep speeding past a speeding train made me quit Call of Duty WW2s story all together

It's a shame they didn't add more stories through DLC, it seemed like they were perfectly set up for it. Seems the money isn't in single player DLC these days though on their eyes.

They've said as much. Would have been brilliant to get a new story with each map pack based on those campaigns.

The Italians one is actually sad. :((

Yeah, COD ww2 just is not as good as bf1 based on the first 3 single player missions. Crap AI , you can only sprint for 4 steps , and ultra linear maps - yawn

I watched a video a while ago comparing the opening Omaha beach landing single player mission from COD WW2 and Medal of Honour Frontline. MOH was PS2, released in 2002. I loved that game, played it through so many times.

Obviously the COD graphics are significantly better given that MOH was 15 years and two console generations earlier but I noticed that the sound design for COD was just crap. Muted and flat and really didn't add to the experience at all. The MOH sounds were much better. Shells exploding around you, machine gun fire, other characters shouting and screaming, aircraft overhead. It's just crap in COD. Strange given that they probably had a decent budget.

See I always think battlefield and COD are completely different.

Battlefield is a lot grander scale, more in depth. Longer games. Maybe more mature.
COD seems to be aimed at a younger generation, quick games, lots of feedback, lots of customisation.

I don’t think they compare well.

Has anyone discussed the 2018 battlefield yet? Have I missed it?

Speaking of WW2, what do you reckon BF2018 will be when they tease it next month?

It has to be WW2 for me. I know COD just did it, but a current gen BF WW2 game would be ridiculous. Take the BF1 formula and apply it to WW2. You'd have some ridiculous operations and war stories. D-Day landings, Normandy breakout, Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Britain, Pacific Island hopping (Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima etc), Midway, Pearl Harbour, North Africa, Monte Casino, Stalingrad.
You'd get to fly Lancasters, B17s, Spitfires, Hurricanes, Messerschmidts, Mustangs. Drive Shermans, Tigers, Panzers. So many iconic guns like the Tommy Gun, M1 Garand, BAR, StG44, MP40, Lee Ennfield, Springfield, Sten.

In BF4 you could call in a cruise missile in commander mode. Maybe don't have the same things as it wasn't that popular, but some way of calling in a V1/V2 bombardments would be cool.

It would be stupidly good fun.

Hah, snap, NPB.

BF2018 will be playable at EA Play in June, so it'll be revealed before then. BF1 was revealed in early May 2016, so we'll probably see an ad in a couple of months.

BC3 please.

Make the game more sluggish, add in a bit of humour and keep the fantastic sound effects.

I like the power slide around a corner or into cover. There's nothing quite like crouch sliding around a corner and surprising an enemy with a shotgun to the face.
I realise that it's not realistic, but I like doing it.

Played BF4 a few moths ago and kept trying this. It's amazing how quickly you adapt to a certain movement scheme.

if you can't handle biplane, speeds, how on earth are you going to manage stuka's, IL2's, Hurricane IID's etc ?
plus behemoths are going to be different - no airships, just large ships (unless of course you get to the purely mythical Maus and P1500 Monster landcruiser tanks)

I was reading another forum about Battlefield 1.

The rage people feel towards Snipers or campers as they are called is very odd. You do not tear around the map with a sniper rifle. I didnt realise sniping was considered poor form!

Behemoths wouldn't really make sense, it should really be more land vehicles scattered about the maps, more mobility.

It depends. Hanging back a bit and sniping but still contributing to team play is good. That's killing enemies on or around objectives, spotting harassing vehicles with K bullets etc.

Staying practically in your spawn and going prone with a bipod looking for silly long range kills isn't cool, really.

It depends on the game too. If you're defenington operations and the enemy isn't making any ground, hanging way back and sniping from 400 metres won't matter much. Often, though, you need bodies on the burn to capture objectives and you're basically wasting a player spot if you're not pushing up. You don't even need to be on the objective, but being a bit closer makes you a valuable spawn point and you're probably doing a more effective job hassling/killing enemies than nursing insanely long headshot kills.

That said, sometimes it is fun to go for super sniper kills, but it's worth choosing your moments.

They only really suit the WW1 setting with the first forrays into modern industrialised war, with experiments on what you could build. Hence the airships, super heavy tanks etc. Even the dreadnaughts were novel enough at the time.
By WW2 that technology had been developed to the point that they knew what worked and were just refining it. About the only crazy vehicles you could think of would be the giant German artillery pieces, but I dunno how you'd include them in a BF game, considering that they fired 100s of kms.

Actually, I keep forgetting to use k bullets!

You have to select them instead of a flare or gas tripwire? Is that correct? Are they worth it?

Yep.

If you're playing longer range then they're more valuable than tripwires. You only get 5 of them so use them to harry vehicles as it interrupts the auto-repair (auto repair by the driver is stops if the vehicle takes damage) and allows your assault team mates to finish them off. K bullets don't do that much damage individually, so you're unlikely to solo a tank as sniper. They will finish off vehicles if you time it right after others have done like 90% or more damage.

Tripwires are only really worth it if you're playing aggressively close to objectives. Drop them in harder to see spots like in bushes of piles of debris along obvious routes that enemies will use. If they're in the middle of a clear path people will just shoot them. In the middle of objectives also works because enemies are preoccupied with your team mates, but the random grenade spam will usually clear the tripwires out first.

I'd never play scout without one spotting gadget, they're too valuable for you and your team. Pretty much free points that add up over a round, too.

k bullets are awesome with an iron sight rifle - no glare, you don't need it to spot vehicles, peow peow peow peow peow.
need a friendly support player to keep you stocked up so you can keep a rain of death going, particularly on the lorries which you can damage badly even with only 5 bullets. best and wait until vehicle is nice and in the open, so they can't hide without you picking them off.

also great at taking out airship gondolas and aircraft engines.

most maps benefit with a support pouch with telescopic gun sight and crossbow & iron sight k bullet sniper combo - on support can keep 3 snipers going easy (also works on assault and rocket guns, handy for taking out behemoths)

Yeeb, didn't they nerf the AT rocket ammo reload from pouches with one of the recent upgrades? They nerfed something for sure - may have been grenades.

don't think so, fairly sure I went from zero to 4 instantly last night on the rockets.
its the grenades where you can't get recharged from pouches any more I think, just the crates. you could get a lot of points Tae if you dropped pouches AND crates down, especially during 'lets get rid of the behemoth' starts to the round.

The only exception to this is the new Passchendael map. I played sniper and literally just randomly dropped trip wires everywhere. Got 8 trip wire kills in a round, my brother came on needing trip wire kills for a medal or assignment, and we went there. He got 5 kills his first round.
on the Paschendael map, it is so busy with people rushing around, no one sees them leave them near a spawn or in a trench and Boom.

It's also dark and muddy, so they're harder to see.
Good call, though.

You can replenish grenades with the ammo pouch, it just takes time. There's a little.scroll wheel that fills up of you stand stationary on a crate or pouch and when it's full you get the grenade back.

It would have been interesting if you actually sunk a bit into the mud as Paschendaele was such a mud hell hole.

Anyway, I'm going to trying the '100 resupplies in a round' thing this weekend so that could be dodgy. I think the best I've done is 20 but I've never really actively tried before - I just throw them at Yeeb when he yells at me for ammo.

good darts last night chaps - I ended 23 or so shotgun kills short of that community challenge, ah well.

for those not in our group last night, Tae was on form, and although came dead last in one game, finished the next couple in top half & I believe top ten on one map. Rumour has it I give the lad gyp for being utter shite, but I saw him get some good kills last night

trying to attack on the Verdun maps, with shotgun, is utter fail. utter meat grinder maps.

Handy tip for that one Tae, play operations in Fort Vaux. Equip both the large and small ammo crates/pouches. Can get it done pretty quickly. Just chuck the pouches out like skittles and leave the crates at choke points. Pretty much the same for the healing allies for 600 points or whatever it was.

so much this

you can get points for replen everyones grenades, crossbow grenades, and spot flares
(on those maps, the grenades that you can fire further like the crossbow ones and the scout spot flare, are more useful as you can bounce them off walls and get indirect kills. think some of the perk unlocks require you to get kills from Flares so its handy for that)
