SoO I kicks off in a couple of hours.

Almost unrecognizable teams from last year. NSW have gone with full on attack, so could be an exciting game.

Billy Slater has been ruled out for Queensland. Which was terrible news for NSW, simply because it meant there was a last minute spot for Kayln Ponga. But then Queensland replaced him with Anthony Milford instead, so it has turned out to be a net gain.

Ponga is going to be an absolute nightmare for NSW for years to come. The kid is incredible. Can't believe he hasn't been picked.

Reckon the fact he plays for a club full of special needs people is hurting his chances.

Should have stayed at the Cowboys

Think the Cowboys are regretting that deal more-so than he is right now. They must be having similar regrets to the Bulldogs and JT going the other way - wishing they had thrown everything they had at him. They wouldn't be sitting 4 points behind the Knights right now if they had - probably more like 18 points ahead of them.

Gone and gone (both retired from rep footy).

Billy Slater is out injured as well.

It's bizarre. It's not like they didn't know JT was going to retire soon.

Why are Leaguists really unambitious in finding touch from penalties, seem to only go 10-20 metres on average. Sure they want to make sure they make touch but they typically lose out on so many metres. Referring to clearing from in their own half as well, I know they try and start from 10 from the oppo tryline

Just watched a Kayln Ponga highlights reel - he's a 6 long term isn't he? Looks like a more reliable Shaun Johnson.

Don’t know why Inglis didn’t cover in behind there instead of making a half-hearted effort to put the chaser off.

Ahhh the good guys lost.

Also, we have our whinges about the reffing in rugby union but the inconsistency in rugby league is astounding. In the first half the ref watched a replay on the big screen and changed his mind but then decided not to in the second half after that NSW rip in the tackle.

Pretty sure it can only be reviewed by the video ref for touch in goal (and possibly into touch in general). They had it briefly reviewable for everything, but players just went down injured to allow time for everything to be ruled/overturned. Was far, far worse.

Don't think that one would have been overturned by the video ref anyway, as the on-field ref (rightly or wrongly) said "he took his arm away, it's up to you to control it", so pretty sure the video would have just deferred to the on-field call anyway.

Yeah - will likely have a Darryn Lockyear type path - though maybe into the halves a lot earlier.

Some stupid options to kick by Qld early in the tackle count when they had all that possession deep in NSW territory in the 2nd half.

Will Chambers makes some big errors at club level and tonight.

Qld missed one of Cameron Smith or Cooper Cronk big time tonight.

A lot to learn on both sides there. NSW were getting absolutely stapled in that left hand corner set after set, with their backs taking it one out off the ruck and hitting rush defense. They should at least have got some banana runs out of dummy half going to get them centered and open up options.

Roberts was pretty worthless - should switch him out for Aitken. They have enough firepower that Roberts is unnecessary and having someone to shut down Inglis (who looked like the only real danger) would be smart.

Oh, and Tedesco was outstanding. After rubbish form at the back end of last year and early this year, he's coming right.

The scummy plum.

Yeah, and Maloney, despite a couple of costly errors, was a big part of the difference as well.

Having a dummy half danger like Cook was huge too.

But by far the biggest individual contributor, was having no Mitchell Pearce.

Knacker sport. Dumbed down simplified thuggish version of rugger, designed to appeal to the lowest of the low in society. x(

The Aussies should be grateful that the Irish team are in their country for the next few weeks, to show the local knuckledraggers what true ruggerlike behaviour is all about. Teamwork, camaraderie, sportsmanship, honour and fairness....concepts that are alien to the tattoed oiks on the pitch today

 Could do parodies after his playing career is over. Wouldn't even have to change the title for Adventures of...

... the Engineer's Thumb / the Three Students / Black Peter / the Second Stain / the Priory School / the Creeping Man / Veiled Lodger / Illustrious Client / Blanched Soldier

Apparently he was the NZ under-13 golf champion. Could be the next ADV.

He's no doubt eligible for the Kiwis, but was born in Ali Choice's neck of the woods (AC's spiritual home of Mt Isa, not his long abandoned birthplace) and has spent the majority of his life in Queensland, other than a period in Palmy (Mt Isa and Palmy - now that is a tough childhood).

Tom Trbojevic . What a class player. Great catch and try. Watched him play when Manly tore the Storm a new one a few weeks back.

Try and squeez in a visit to a horse mart in ballinasloe before you travel. It will stand you in good stead for what you will likely experience
