I would agree Marx is a potential great. Who else though? JLDP- nope - another FLO I'm afraid. Kitshoff - maybe but I doubt it. Pollard, Bosch et al- nope.

For me the problem is scrummy, that's always been so important in our game. It's no coincidence that both our world cups came at a time we had the best scrummy in the world.

If you don't have a scrum half with a good service and the vision to adapt his play from the play around him, then you put your flyhalf under pressure and your backline never gets into gear. If he has a decent service, but his play is predictable, it's just as bad.
We have been playing with journeyman scrum halves and our game has suffered.

Cape Town - Following their 37-15 Rugby Championship win over Argentina, the Springboks have moved up one spot to fourth in the official World Rugby rankings.
Allister Coetzee's Springboks leapfrogged Australia, who were beaten 54-34 at home by New Zealand.

I'm really hoping for a BP win as tough as that will be in ARG. We missed out on one in PE. Only possible way to keep up with NZ until a potential final showdown at Newlands because they will probably get a BP in every match.

The Boks have always been up and down in the professional era haven't they? Remember the core squad that won the world cup and Lions tour were the embarrassing naked swimmers around the early 2000's getting their arse handed to them by England for 50 points.
Only the kiwis seem to have discovered how to keep a non-stop production line going of players without much in the way of dips.

I believe the All Blacks biggest advantage, the last 14 years or so especially, was the continuity in their coaching whereas with the Boks every coach starts from scratch for 4 years, there is no continuity

Shut up. It took almost 25 years since the start of professionalism, but we're finally talking about Bok players without talking about their skin colour at the same time. There were no quotas in Saturday's team.

I dont know! I dont watch SA Super games anymore so Im not au fait with the domestic players and didn't see the match at the weekend. I was only asking to see what the full strength team with everyone available would be.

Apart from Marx (except in lineout chucking), Etsebeth (despite losing his cool) and Whitely (on the bench behind Thor) - all White-skinned players BTW - I reckon the team on Saturday is probably our Best in a Long Time.
